MAP

Dm-Maze Arena . . . . Author TheEmperorStalwartUK . . . . review by Flapjax

PROS

  • Great music and sounds
  • Cool atmosphere

(this author is great at that)

  • Abundant stuff; weapons, ammo, etc.

(perhaps, too much ... the place looks littered)

CONS

  • Too dark in many areas
  • The Death-Shafts are not marked

COMMENTS

This map consists of two distinct mazes that are NOT hidden from the players; nifty idea. I think every map could benefit from a small "maze-like" inclusion IF the map itself doesn't serve that end. The Death-Shafts are not marked and numerous, though cool in application. This leads the player to stumble into one (one of many) so often that it certainly instills a sense of foreboding and paralysis. These are terrific effects to give a player -but- they come at the (shortly) inevitable cost of not wanting to move at all -and- how does that add to the game-play ? Combat moves along at an excellent pace and (if not for the eventual rifle shot) one can have a good time just dodging rockets on the upper walk-around. Many areas within the maze are poorly lit and compounds the disorientation of the maze. That may be an asset when first encountering the maze but it proves deadly when trying to get-away from a bot-like adversary. The ability to get on top of the walls of the maze is cool and adds resoundingly to the maps pluses. All in all, another beautiful map by this author - who may eventually - give us some of the more ingenious maps we'll find. d:-)
