The master server unreal.epicgames.com isn't doing anything useful. It cannot be queried from Unreal. I think this might be the UT master server or a server that has been shut down for ages.
It is not used in Unreal pre-227 anyways.
You may want to consider removing it from the list.

It's been quite a while since oldunreal had an overhaul, but we are moving to another server which require some updates and changes. The biggest change is the migration of our old reliable YaBB forum to phpBB. This system expects you to login with your username and old password known from YaBB.
If you experience any problems there is also the usual "password forgotten" function. Don't forget to clear your browser cache!

Re: [227] unreal.epicgames.com master
I think this used to be the UT master server. This one has been moved to a new address:
utmaster.epicgames.com
You can actually query it via:
For some reason, it still lists the UT servers if I change the gamename= to unreal:
Is this a bug in the current browser? Does it actually filter on the GameName string? Or is it a bug of the UT master server, that it answers with a list of all servers even if it should only give a list of servers corresponding to the GameName=?
utmaster.epicgames.com
You can actually query it via:
Code: Select all
ListFactories[0]=UBrowser.UBrowserGSpyFact,MasterServerAddress=utmaster.epicgames.com,MasterServerTCPPort=28900,GameName=utCode: Select all
ListFactories[0]=UBrowser.UBrowserGSpyFact,MasterServerAddress=utmaster.epicgames.com,MasterServerTCPPort=28900,GameName=unreal

Re: [227] unreal.epicgames.com master
FAQ:
Q: Why does the uplink to unreal.epicgames.com still seem to work?
A: Because unreal.epicgames.com is still a valid domain; the domain still hosts Epic's old Unreal technology site. Therefore, it resolves to an IP. But the master server is gone here anyways.
