Various sound pitch

I am playing 227f now and roughly from start, the message "Prisoner XYZ escaping" varies in pitch on the fly. All the wind samples vary also (I am sure with these, but it is possible there are more of them). It is really annoying, because pitch changes during sample's playback. This "pitch glitches" are independent on audio driver set. It is a new feature? I haven't noticed it before 227f. I would prefer to turn it off (and I am not able to find where...). Thanks

Those are *supposed* to vary. The prisoner escaping varies since the ship is in ruins, and the power is fluctuating, so the main computer can't provide a steady pitch, besides, speakers are damaged. Wind varies in pitch since that's what it does in real life...

hm...I am afraid we don't understand ourselves. I mean samples ound_prisonE(4|8|a).wav in VRikers.uax. 2 of these sounds does not change at all and third one changes like we all know (I have played Unreal for so many times that I remember what should sound how

) My changes are like when someone plays with vinyl record. I have just played and also bullets from sniper rifle are affected. I though it is any new feature. If it is something special, unknown (but it also happens on my friend's 227f installation), I can provide some samples taken from gameplay.

The audio driver with EAX (Creative's Environmental Audio Extensions) also has a feature to change the audio pitch when moving from and towards audio sources. There is an option with doppler speed / rate / effect to adjust this.

Some soundcards seem to have weird problems with OpenAL, especially onboard soundcards from NVIDIA. It's a driver problem and for 227g there are a couple of changes to improve compatibility with those. If you are one who suffers this problem and you are using OpenAL now I suggest to switch to FMOD.
Dots also added a link already to our wiki for more details and help.

Doppler effect is so damn annoying... Does your whole game speed up as well? If it does, try just enabling VSync and see if that fixes it (did for me).

Thanks people, it was in doppler. Everything is ok now by setting it to 0. Btw, I have Creative SB Audigy 2 ZS and OpenAl as an audio driver.
