I'm a newbie at graphics improvements to Unreal, so I have the following questions.
Once I've downloaded and installed the OpenGL support in Unreal Gold per V2.1.0.5, can I use the compressed textures from UT GOTY in Old Uneral? I tried to do this, and when Unreal loaded, it gave me an error where it expected textures of one size and got another size.
Will the compressed textures from UT GOTY work in Unreal Gold in D3D? I got the same error when I tried this.
Thanks for your help!

Re: Using Compressed Textures in Old Unreal
theoretically it would, but unfortunately they used some kind of merged texture package for the UT cd, this means, they merged normal textures and compressed textures in these packages - unreal would be able to display the textures, but its NOT possible to load the ut packages... so unless i found a way to extract the textures or a way to load the merged packages (which is in parts of the code i don't have...) there is no way to use'em. Custom made packages are possible.

Hi Smirftsch, would it work if we rebuilded the .utx files with the Hires textures and then give them for download?
Is the problem just exporting the hires rextures or importing some is tricky too? (Game refusing to load our new package?)

Re: Using Compressed Textures in Old Unreal
yes, i would be able to make netcompatible s3tc packages, but we'd need the original templates since the s3tc textures are not extractable via unreal/ut in 32bpp....
