Oh, nice, he made one UT3 reference (nanoblack) and a Unreal reference. The latter one is interesting:
I’ll help keep the ship pointed directly towards Na Pali
POINTLESS INTERPRETATION TIME!!! :D

Not sure what you mean, he was the freakin' President, which means if he was tired of it he could change a few things for it to be better...

Wait, what did you mean by saying that you bet on Sweenet next? That you bet on him being Epic's president next, or that you bet on him leaving Epic next?

Not all of them left - Shane Caudle's still working in there.
Also, Capps was only president of the company for 10 years.

DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT. Who knows if these thoughts are eventually heard by Satan and get materialized in most unimaginally awful ways. In other words, if you don't want this to happen, don't think about it.

It doesn't matter anymore I know alot of Unreal 1 Fans that are pissed off at Epic because they feel betrayed and I don't blame them for that feeling.

Tsk, don't be so harsh.

As for Shane Caudle, he is making Gears maps and there won't be any more bonus packs for any UT game anymore. He's a great mapper, I hope if there will be a new Unreal or UT game, he won't forget how to make maps for an oldschool shooter by then.

How do you know that all these 'good' people that are leaving epic aren't actually the asswipes that were holding Unreal back?

Don't you remember all the times that Cliff has said "Fuck PC!"?

Yep, I do. And that's what you call marketing strategy. Go with the flow, easiest and most efficient tactic.

"Go with the flow" sounds more like herd logic than "Marketing Strategy"... and I find that kind of behavior very sickening.

After all, who starts the "flow" in the first place? Why go with it in the first place if it doesn't match up to your agenda? Hence why my first game (and probably most if not all of my games) will be developed for MS-DOS and old PC's rather than the BS we have today.

I'm not about to follow mainstream and make all my stuff conform to the modern idiocy that's taken place recently.

As for Mike Capps resigning, it seems logical to resign from a top position when you have more important matters to deal with, like family for example. Being on top can be a very stressful job position even if it pays well.

Thats why I hate businesses in an artistic world. You don't have both business and art. In the way people run things, they are pretty much opposites.

When you think about the money, you don't think about the art. Its always the same. Its such a joke. Worse than sellout puppet music artists.

Prime example is EA. Electronic "Arts". Their art lies in making money off the folly of the masses. If you can legitimately label it as an art that is. They haven't focused on quality for a game in quite a while. Though I do like the Mass Effect series until everything starts to suck in the end.

To get more on topic, with Capps demoted and Bleszinski out of Epic, it makes way for people to twist Epic into a company like EA that focuses more on profit than quality of their product. Though it won't happen soon or may not happen at all with Epic, it's more likely than ever now.

The people working at epic games started with fresh innovation.  Unreal -> UT.  Gears of War was even a good game, the first one that is.  And at the same time, I am thinking to myself.  They betray the computer fan-system by saying we only torrent which is completely untrue.  They will only release games for ios and xbox 360 now because of tough love.  I think most of us could agree that Unreal being completely forgotten, and Unreal Tournament on the brink of being dissolved as well.  It is likely PC has no stand any longer in Epic Games... the end has practically come to PC anyhow.  Looking at every game of today, nothing special.  Too many strategy games like WOW, too many FPS games like Call of Duty and Battlefield 3... and too many ported in games from consoles that are all half ass and require things like Games for Windows Live.  I'm sorry, PC has been destroyed... 'on purpose'.  They can limit the amount of freewill consoles have which gives them a sense of control.
If that is how it will be, so be it... Epic Games will follow that path and I will go my own way.  Shame on them...

You're wrong.

Why? Well why go with the shitty AAA games when you can play all the great Indie games? Since when was, for example, Minecraft, bad?
And also, there are also other companies that probably care about some franchises even more than their creators. So they could get to the cretor of said IP, ask to purchase it for lots of money (probably after a fundraiser, of course), and the result could proably be almost as good as the original, if not better. It happened with Rise of the Triad, you know.

It happened with Painkiller. The remake is pretty damn awesome!

Also, talking about EA and that they "haven't focused on quality for a game in quite a while":
Bulletstorm was quite good and innovative - and they killed it. Sure it had some flaws, but the overall game rocked. The sequel was in development, but it was cancelled and no rational reason was given. IIrc EA were not satisfied that it didn't become a blockbuster like all their other games that I have to say are of (somtimes below) mediocre quality.

It's true that certain indie-games are probably the best thing one could take a peak on.
