The people working at epic games started with fresh innovation.  Unreal -> UT.  Gears of War was even a good game, the first one that is.  And at the same time, I am thinking to myself.  They betray the computer fan-system by saying we only torrent which is completely untrue.  They will only release games for ios and xbox 360 now because of tough love.  I think most of us could agree that Unreal being completely forgotten, and Unreal Tournament on the brink of being dissolved as well.  It is likely PC has no stand any longer in Epic Games... the end has practically come to PC anyhow.  Looking at every game of today, nothing special.  Too many strategy games like WOW, too many FPS games like Call of Duty and Battlefield 3... and too many ported in games from consoles that are all half ass and require things like Games for Windows Live.  I'm sorry, PC has been destroyed... 'on purpose'.  They can limit the amount of freewill consoles have which gives them a sense of control.
If that is how it will be, so be it... Epic Games will follow that path and I will go my own way.  Shame on them...
I'm afraid you're running on old news here. Their first Unreal Engine 4 game, Fortnite, will be a PC exclusive. They have been disappointed by the low power available to consoles, and are heading back to the PC world now.

More importantly, WOW is not a strategy game, it's an MMORPG.

We will see if their opinion will last longer now or if it is like the weather.

They might suddenly change their mind once the new consoles hit the market (excluding the Wii U here, they don't seem to have any interest in Nintendo consoles since their graphics are a bit worse, pretty much since the GameCube).

If it makes sense to back to consoles, they probably will. Right now it doesn't make sense. But we, as PC gamers, get something good out of it regardless.

It might also be interesting to see how the whole Win8 situation unfolds, with their program market and all. Valve already took precautions in case MS decides to further lock down the OS and then influence the games that can go on their market. Maybe Epic will realise the same thing and will make UE4 cross-platform once again.

Actually, Microsoft will profit in any way anyway.
They created something that works well on touch-controlled tablets, the average PC user doesn't give a cr@p that there is metro view, they just take it. For gaming they have their Xbox console - and in case you guys didn't notice it, they do everything to push its sales. Why do you think is Gears of War Xbox exclusive? It was a hit and so Microsoft acted.

And about UE4 becoming crossplatform... highly doubtful, it's obvious Epic and MS have a contract and work together.

It might mean Epic would become a company that will only develop Xbox games, PC gaming would evolve on Linux and the next Unreal/UT will be released for Xbox only.

PHEAR! :O
(Wouldn't complain about the Linux part though!)

Which is a shitty reason to kill PC gaming - Why release the best, grand-high breed of gamers when you can keep them and then the PC would become a better, more profitable console? It's not like Micro$oft doesn't get a lot of money from the PC as well.

They can sell Win 8 for PC no matter what as companies usually buy the latest working stations with the latest Windows.
And they don't care about gaming (excluding game developers here).

Microsoft probably makes more profit with the Xbox than you might think, after all it even costs the user money if they make use of internet through Xbox if I recall correctly and they get the biggest part of it when someone buys an Xbox (pretty sure). The $ could be justified. :P

If Nintendo had a good market, still had innovation and wasn't copying a mainstream it would be 'WINNING' as charlie sheen would say.  Instead, Nintendo loses faith because Microsoft owns everything by a longshot.  What is the point of a PS3 if you can only play multi-platform games while the rest are not as interesting as they could be.  What is the point of making a Computer whilst video games come in such 'SMALL QUANTITIES'.  I made the mistake, and I am burned to be quite frank.  The only games I see are the extremely mainstream ones like COD and BF3, and then a bunch of RPG games like WoW.  I like Minecraft, it's actually very special amongst the others.  But I don't understand why something like WoW needs to be reproduced a billion times.  While there could be something different like Amnesia or ArmA 3.  I am a little blitzed, the PC is one sided and technically dying off.

I have one question, I'll have everyone answer it.  It is a good one, and it is this... (Do you think people have produced anything worth a shit with the UDK after how many odd years of it being around?  Name a few projects that finished, and I'll guarantee you that the independant production isn't worth a shit.  There are not many Independant designers that succeed that is the truth.)

The best of Epic Games quit simply because they cannot produce where their Market is strongest, and if they produced PC... their entitlement to Microsoft 'could' end nasty and their market on PC would suck and their contract with the consoles will terminate.  Therefor, their company will lay off employee's due to a lack of production.  It's already starting to happen  :-/

Anyways, to be honost.  Epic Games will not produce a game like Unreal on PC ever.  I have my doubts, they wont do it because they 'don't want to waste their time when they had made such money on Console.'.  It's ok to have some faith, but the odd's of Epic Games turning back to the 90's is a sign of pure 'desperation'.  Epic Games will eventually turn into some kind of Standalone Engine designing company sort of like how it's been doing on the side for 10+ years.  Giving the Government and Independant movie\game designers some kind of tool to work with.  Though the price is a bit steep, the value is worth it.

What a nice pack of frustrated broscience and magic divination. I'm sure you sacrificed many goats and read the entrails of many cows before posting this.

Your first paragraph is wrong from the first sentence, since Nintendo is right now the most successful console-maker of the current generation and of all times, to the point Microsoft cannot even hope to compete in the near future.

If you don't find computer games you like on PC, that's your own problem, since most games are also released on PC. But I guess those which are released do not fit your tastes, after all, Crysis, STALKER, RTSs do not exist, as we all know.

UDK projects worth something: From memory, I remember there's Hawken. The time needed to make a full game on the UE3 is exponentially longer than for previous generations and takes much more people, so yes it's more rare.

And yes, I guess they won't make a game like Unreal or a 90's game now. Too bad. After all, we all long for 15 years old gameplay and a game with a poor excuse for a plot. Obviously that would work so well. Too bad they follow the times and have implemented new things, we hate change. Everything was better in the past, nowadays kids don't respect their elders, back in my days, etc.

The PC market is actually pretty sucessful, after all - Take a look at Borderlands 2 - It's probably most successful on the PC than any other platorm, and also there's Dishonored (which I know is more successful on consoles, but is still a good example for how gaming is changing for the better), and then there's Crysis 3 which is coming soon (sure, it's gimmicky, but it's better than CoD, and it actually seems innovative in sevreal places), etc...
And also, Team Fortress 2. That's one game from the last 5 years which I really enjoy.

You have not been to Kickstarter lately, have you? I recently backed several projects (one of them did not make it, but ah well), and so far they have been doing very good progress.

But it's true that the UDK is not very popular among the indie developers. Most of them use Unity. And the reason is very simple - cross-platform compatibility. On every single Kickstarter project there are people interested in the games on Mac and Linux. And their ranks are not small. So the developers more often than not choose Unity. So unless Epic realises that and makes UDK4 cross-platform, it's going to stay that way.

Exactly. I've been trying to tell them that for ages. A good corporate body listens to its customers, duh!

Until a big fat guy with a bunch of money stands in between customers and company and says "I want you to make your engine for Windows and consoles only". Still. :-/

And BlueHaze, just check the Steam store and you will see enough games for PC that are worth it. I recently bought the Painkiller complete pack, Saints Row 3 isn't bad at all on PC, there is the XCom remake, Borderlands 2, Assassin's Creed III (although I'm not a fan of the series), Walking Dead, Torchlight 2, Far Cry 3, the new Counter Strike (again not a fan) and I could name much more.

Epic makes a Good Engine but now they make Terrible Video Games I hope Epic doesn't make Unreal 3 because they might Ruin it like Legend Ruined Unreal 2. Epic should stick to making Unreal Engines btw has anyone seen the List of games made with the Unreal Engine? It's pretty amazing.

Eh ben.
