It's been quite a while since oldunreal had an overhaul, but we are moving to another server which require some updates and changes. The biggest change is the migration of our old reliable YaBB forum to phpBB. This system expects you to login with your username and old password known from YaBB.
If you experience any problems there is also the usual "password forgotten" function. Don't forget to clear your browser cache!

entry.unr

Post by [i0]Solar »

im sure you guys have heard this before,
but you know the map entry,
where you go when you are downloading to a server?
how do you change that map?
i was on [IP]J's site, and downloaded his Villa map
that he said was an Entry replacement.
So I'm assuming it can be done.

Rename it entry.unr ?
You must construct additional pylons.

No, it's a configuration option in Unreal.ini, should be somewhere at the top.

renaming it entry.unr will get me kicked from many servers.
and there is no setting in the unreal.ini?

in 227h:

Section [URL] at the top:
EntryMap=EntryII.unr

but still it can cause that you get kicked by some of the anticheat tools, since a modified entry map is having a (theoretical) risk to contain some kind of hack or bot.

You can change the local map. But otherwise, I guess not.

Why? For running a 226 client I see only a very few reasons and running a 226 server is a disaster with all its bugs, especially in network replication...
If not using 227 you should take at least 225 + Nephthys for a server.

I have hand crafted an excellent picture of my feelings and a guide on why 226f is non desirable within 5 minutes on mspaint.

Random question out there. Entry maps are to be like, low low low consumption, so that they do not really interfere with map changes by lagging, but isn't 227 installing that new entry map causing any lag on level changes?

Who said anything about 226f? :-? I thought he meant 226b.

No, I'm not getting any more lag that I can notice. The new entry map probably isn't that bigger, either.

Of course is the new Entry map bigger and more performance consuming. But it shouldn't be noticeable on most systems. To avoid trouble (on very low end systems) I also made it configurable with the ini entry, so you can change it back any time easily.
