Unreal is running too...fast!

Post by Skyfrog »

There's something I never thought I'd say, but what was once a game I dreamed of getting to run smoothly in high resolutions is now running crazy fast, over 340 frames per second. I have the original Unreal, patched with the official and final 2.26 patch, the S3TC textures from UT installed (many thanks for that program) and finally your latest OMP update. With all that it looks beautiful but it just runs way too fast to play. Is there a way to limit the frame rate? This does not happen when running it under UT using the Oldskool Amped mod which is what I've always done, but I recently got UT2004 so I figured I'd try running Unreal on it's own again. I do miss the new weapons though. The main thing I need to work out right now is how to slow it down.

One other thing I thought I'd mention, when using the S3TC textures (either your patch or in oldskool) there are certain areas that look like crap. Most notably the corridor leading out of the ship at Nyleve. The sections with blood on the floor still use the old textures and it contrasts pretty sharply when they run together; I did find sort of a fix for this. Replace the map vortex2 with the map vortex2 from the German version; it does not have those blood decals all over everything so the new textures will work and look great. There are no dead bodies in it either and the scene where you see the first skaarj and it kills all those crew members is changed so that it just sees you and runs away. :)

you might want to try to set vsync to true, some people have said that limits the framerate.

as for the blood texture problem, its because not all textures are replaced by high resolution versions, were still working on those atm :)
