For anyone who enjoyed playing at RUSH's servers, I setup mirror servers with identical maps and mods.

I upgraded my internet to fiber and have plenty of bandwidth. I've also setup fast-dl via HTTP as there are numerous packages to download when you connect to the server.

His domain expired months ago and some Chinese company bought it. I would think if he was able or wanted to continue, he would have renewed the domain name.

Sniper's is a piece of Unreal history and it would be a shame to let it vanish. They've been down for five months now.

Hopefully RUSH comes back. Until then, those servers will remain up for the duration.

I'm not taking credit for any of RUSH's work, I'm just trying to keep Unreal going and this is my way of contributing.

Yes, Snipers was the best server for so long. (No offense to all the rest) It was a constant in a sea of change. He was always improving it and adding maps. I will miss it if it doesnt come back. Heres hoping.

I haven’t played in almost 10 years- I started playing in 1997 or 1998.
I turned my brother onto the game and he instantly Loved it.
We would play for hours and have the time of our lives.
My Brother Ken went on to build maps and the two of us would play on them for hours/days.
I used to get mad when he would change just one texture forcing me to download the map again.
Over the years he got really good at designing and building maps.
He started his own server as Unreal was being phased out (this was years after Unreal tournament was released) as time went on Only about 17 players in the world was playing but we played on.
Over time I stopped playing but Ken continued.
We would always talk about how his server was the best.
Ken developed Parkinson’s disease but he played on and continued to develop his maps.
Ken was a good brother and I will miss him.
You reading this would have know Ken as RUSH
he passed away in January this year
I thank all of you for playing on his passion.
May he rest in peace!

Thank you for letting us know, RUSH had been playing since around the same time me and Pax had started. It is with a heavy heart that I read this.

Thank you for everything you had done for Deathmatch RUSH, I appreciate you and what you did for SA when they needed servers as well. I hope everyone in your family has support in this time.

Thank you for updating us on what happened with RUSH. We’ve been worried about him and have feared the worst. It’s unfortunate and sad that he’s gone, he was one of a kind and he will be missed.

He really enjoyed playing Unreal and especially mapping. He would release maps regularly, mostly edits and imports from UT, although he had several original maps he authored like escape from rush city. He was the only one left I know of actively mapping for monsterhunt, keeping the game fresh. I don't have an exact count, but I think it's safe to report that he released/edited at least 500+ MH-[SP] maps, which is no small achievement. On the monsterhunt server there are a total of 590 maps. I don’t even know how to count how many mods he released, hundreds easily. I miss the days he’d be on and he would say “map test?” of course we said yes! Then we’d get run through the ringer (mostly dying a ton of times before reaching the end). We always joked about the amount of times we would die playing his maps as he LOL’d at our misfortune of being killed by monsters and traps that he set.

As long as I’m able, I intend to keep the Sniper’s Paradise mirror servers running. They are a clone of his servers in every way, all the same mods, maps and server configuration is preserved exactly as he had it.

The singer Brad Arnold of the song Kryptonite died recently. A song I solely knew because it was featured on the Sniper's Paradise server.
