openGL patch problem w/ATI Radeon
I installed the patch and I seem to be having problems with the display. The graphics are tearing almost as though there is a clipping problem. I tried 2.1.0.5 - 2.1.0.7 and the same thing occurs. I am running:
Win98
Celeron 1Ghz
128 ram
Ati Radeon 7500
I have installed the latest drivers for the vid card as well as the latest chipset drivers. I am have browsed the forum and have tried everything to get this to work.... any other suggestions?

Is your desktop depth set to 32bit ?

try setting (names might not be accurate but you should recognize the settings)
useAGPtextures to false
useprecache to false
doprecache to false
if there is a videomemoryVB turn it to false too

It doesn't work. I have:
98SE/2000 pro SP3
Athlon XP
384 RAM
ATI Radeon 7500 DDR
Take a look at this horror. By the way the same with your UT OpenGL patch and Epic S3TC OpenGL.dll (in UT).

Re: openGL patch problem w/ATI Radeon
I've tried those settings and then some, I tried every trick that so far had been posted for others who have had problems, nothing seems to have any effect. Shame too, what little I can see looks really, really good.
I took a shot of what happens, it's not the worst but it gives you an idea of what it looks like.

This is the Nali Castle, flying up through the battlements.... thinking maybe the gl patch don't work so well w/ ATI 7x00 series....
Just a note for others who are having problems with a Radeon 7500 : I have tried running D3D and the frame rate possitively sucked(226f). I reinstalled, patched to 224 and tried it all again. This is when I took the shot w/2.1.0.6 gl. However, I can now run D3D with acceptable FPS, don't look as good as gl, but it looks better than software and it's much faster at high res. Better than nothing

Sorry I can't manage to see the pic. Anyway you must be right, I don't see anything but an incompatibility withe the 7500. But I could be wrong as I don't own the card and I'm currently on XP.

Re: openGL patch problem w/ATI Radeon
I also have a problem with an ATI based card (3d prophet 7500 DDR 64 MB) running the new opengl patch, not only the new ogl patch but also the ogl that ships with the game, and even the ogl from unreal tournament has the same problem.
or i get a gpf during startup or the polygones and verticles of the geometry are messed up around the screen, heres a shot what i mean:
i think its driver related because i remember i used very old ATI drivers 2 months ago and then the OGL showed up fine, maybe downgrading your drivers may fix the problem?

Re: openGL patch problem w/ATI Radeon
Try the following:
Enable S3TC in unreal.ini, opengl drv section
Disable Hyper-Z
Disable Z-compression
Enable 32-bit Z-Buffer

Re: openGL patch problem w/ATI Radeon
I don't know what possessed me to do this but, I tried running with OpenGL again and now it works fine.... go figure. Either one of two things have made this happen, maybe both. I installed another 512MB of ram, and for some reason I think the ATI drivers might be broken.
Why do I think that? For some reason GLQuake won't run in a resolution higher than 400x300 anymore and now Unreal seems to work. :-/

Try running GLQuake with the following options:I don't know what possessed me to do this but, I tried running with OpenGL again and now it works fine.... go figure. Re: openGL patch problem w/ATI Radeon
I did, it locked up. Every resolution above 400x300 locked it up. Funny thing is QuakeForge ran with no problems.
Well it's fixed now, the drivers were broken. I reinstalled them and fixed my other problems but, now Unreal is broken again. LOL. I know it sounds melodramatic but, taking this computer out back and put it out of it's misery with a shotgun seems like the way to go.

Re: openGL patch problem w/ATI Radeon
When 32 bits won't run: Use 16 bits instead of 32:
glquake.exe -width 1024 -height 768 -bpp 16
glquake.exe -width 1024 -height 768 -bpp 16
