Interesting, the main screen with the giant U logo has a background of an unused texture in unreal. Very odd.

You can still listen to the objectives by pressing F3 during assault.

There was official music release originally at UT which included that music, you can still find the archive at beyondunreal.

Also, I played this beta long ago already. And yes there are assault voice intstructions as well.

I would make a DL link for everyone, but it may break copyright laws.

Beta says "do not distribute" when pressing ESC at the logo map if setting "show desktop" is selected. In the videos it's not selected.

If the game is copyrighted, the menu music must be too.

Menu map background should be moving. Logo rotates but background stays still. In software mode it will move, but not in Direct3D, which enables Fraps-recording.

Bullshit about the copyrighted music, we used various unreleased Alexander Brandon's etc music in UT classic pack 3 and nobody had problem with it, besides the menu track was released officially and is found in that archive in beyondunreal sigh.

Besides, it was there for the time before the game was released mainly. 10 years after the game released, the legal issues are getting ridiculous.

Epic has always been nice as far as content transfer was concerned. Nobody ever got any problem for using UT99 or U1 assets in later games. They don't like newer assets to be ported to older games though.

I think those videos doesn't break any copyright laws because they have only part of the game and the game is introduced in the title (not like "Look what game I made!"). Those videos doesn't have any DL link to the game, they are only videos (of free advertising of the game).

Whatever, I didn't talk about the beta itself, but the music. And you got the beta originally downloaded anyway I think.
So your points are really ridiculous and this beta was leaked. You were not one of the original testers. If you've got some other beta, now that would be interesting.

I never did download the game, I got beta test CD from my cousin approx. 10 - 12 years ago, and he was a UT beta tester I think.

Haha about damn time someone tore the "omg is it legal????" babies a new asshole. I hate them because I've seen shit like SNES and Sega Genesis beta ROMs get passed around like candy (see: Sonic 2 Beta), but as soon as someone mentions a beta for an Unreal game or whatever every wannabe lawyer pours in and bitches about legality and dumb shit like that. I guess it comes with the territory because Unreal games are generally very moddable, and that tends to attract e-lawyer/copyright whiners for some reason.

Wow, it had code for named orders ("Abel, assault the base")! In the final the names are there, but not the code to say them, for some reason. Same with UT2004, name tags are there, but you don't say them.
