I'm getting a wee little error...

UT now belongs to the "old" Unreal as well. Supporting it for OpenGL and Sound its time to put up a board now.

I'm getting a wee little error...

Post by Xavious »

I recently DLed UT, so that i could play on the green river UT server ( www.quickdog.net ) and play them totally cool botmatches with like 1300 mods at once.

I am having a little trouble playing thought. It started when i first tried to patch the game. I had trouble wih the file Botpack.u . I soon found the problem to be my PC, and the solution was to use a special 'No Delta' patch from Epic. So thats all sorted, and i'm now running patch 436...

Everything was fine till i tried installing a load of UMODs. These inlcuded Akimbo Arena, Matrix Moves, Bullet Time, Strangelove, a few others which i forget...

Anyway, after installing them all, i opened UT, and tried to press escape into the menu. The game crashed with this error:

So i uninstalled and reinstalled, repatched and all. Then i tried to open it again, without installing any more mods or anything, tried to open the menu, and i still get that error.

Any suggestions?

Looks to me like one of the mods messed up their menu configuration and UT can't load it. Solution: find out which mod and don't install it.

According to the error message, the mod's name abbreviation is "MTB", so if these 3 letters sound familiar to you as a mod's name spoken short, you should have your culprit.

But i did uninstall everything and then reinstall it...And then i didn't do anything else with the install other than patch it...And it still didn't work...

Found it though: MTB would be the MutatorToolbox10

Which makes alot of sense considering the feature list:
What it does: It appears in the Mod Menu in UT's GUI. It allows you to adjust many of
the properties in Unreal Tournament to personal preference.

The alterable properties are:
- Altering the respawn time of weapons (up to 6x faster)
- Altering the respawn time of pickups (up to 6x faster)
- Altering the respawn time of ammo (up to 6x faster)
- Changing the amount of ammo given by ammo pickups
- Changing the charge of the Jump Boots
- Altering the armor value of the Shield Belt
- Altering the armor value of the Body Armor
- Altering the armor value of the Thigh Pads
- Increasing/Decreasing the health given by Medboxes
- Increasing/Decreasing the health given by Health Vials
- Increasing/Decreasing the duration of Invisibility
- Increasing/Decreasing the duration of UDamage
- The ability to change all Players' default health
- The ability to change your starting weapon to any of the UT weapons
So a note to anyone interested in UT...don't install this mod!

Ow and cheers for the help...Although since i uninstalled everything, i don't see why this could have affected my new install...Maybe i'll just try again...

[edit]took me a while to fix that quote...[/edit]

Depends... did you "uninstall the game" as in

START -> Software -> Uninstall UT?

The windows uninstall never deletes modified or new files, only exactly those that which were created the first time of install and only those which were never modified thereafter. That is also the reason why uninstalling a software ALWAYS requires you to manually clean up the remains.

In other words, if that is how you "uninstalled" the game, all your mods and modified INT/INI files were all there when you reinstalled it... A complete reinstall requires you to open the explorer and delete the directory yourself manually as a final step. Only THEN it is uninstalled for real.

Naa, i used the uninstall option from the autorun on the disk...

And then i even deleted all the unreal tournament files from C: drive.

But i tried it again and this time it worked...Wierd, innit?

Well same deal as using the Windows Uninstaller, because what do you think the game's uninstaller calls...? Yup... you guessed it... ;)
