Any chance of a DX9 renderer form the UT2004 64-bit version being ported to U2?

As the title says...

The main reason why I would very much want such a thing is because U2's DX8 renderer, when playing on Win10, is creating an absurd amount of hitching, dropped frames and general framerate inconsistency.

Why am I asking for this renderer specifically? Because UT2004 has basically the same problems as stated above before using the optional 64-bit executable in conjunction with said new renderer.

I know noone can create a new 64-bit executable without the source code, but I'm fairly certain that only the DX9 renderer would do the trick in making the game run flawlessly.

Thoughts? Any kind soul would be willing to port it?

I wouldn't hold my breath for it, U2 is pretty much abandoned unfortunately.

You mean by not only by the developer, but also the community? If so, I am wondering why a forum division exists for it at all.

I was talking about renderer ports. I'm pretty sure those were done without source code access, as they were designed as an engine module form the first Unreal engine version, no?

There were awesome people like this person (http://www.cwdohnal.com/utglr/) who made renderers for the Unreal 1 games.

I was hoping someone here has the know-how just to port (not make a new one as the mentioned above) the DX9 renderer from UT2004.

If that is not feasible, well, there was no harm in me asking, no? :-D

I don't know if small communities still exist to play U2's XMP, but the modding scene no longer exists for it.
The section was created so there would be some place for the rare question about the game. GreatEmerald did some work to document a number of subsystems in the game too.

But yeah, there's no harm in asking of course, you might find someone interested in this. :)

Just drop d3d8.dll in U2 System folder
Use the configurator (adding that folder) to set the options as you like.

Again, thank you for this. In the meantime I've found a dll that resolves all problems I mentioned (https://github.com/crosire/d3d8to9).

As a sidenote (and I might just be retarded here), I can't seem to find the password for dgVoodoo. The archive you download is password protected.

Yeah, that wrapper is the one I linked in my previous post. It really works very well.

Oh and btw. The dgVoodoo link you put... it also is password protected :-D No worries tho, I got what I wanted using Crosire. Thank you again, appreciate it man!

With dgVoodoo 2 you can do magic things no other wrapper can do.

Dege got working Splincer Cell 1/2 shadows using the GeForce 4 preset.....
