Well, I wanted to try something a little creative with the cube rooms, like having a standard room lead into a cylindrical hallway that was sort of diagonal, and then having that hallway lead to the ceiling of another room further under in the world.
I wanted to know if attempting something like this might cause the map to crash, or having a cube room rotated so that it's diagonal on the map with a player start actor in it. If the player starts in the diagonal room with uneven footing would it cause the map to crash?
I was curious since I rotated a cube room before and when I went to play it the editor crashed and I was wondering if this might be the cause. I was unsure since I also tried making mirror rooms and stacking wooden crates, so there are a couple of things I did that could be the cause of a crash.

Re: Rotating rooms and their crash effect factor
Hey D,
I applaud your enthusiasm, but evidently, I failed to mention *start "small"*. Listen ... make yourself a wee map of half a dozen connected rooms with a couple of stairways and a couple of elevators(or not) to a set of half a dozen Second floor rooms. Skip the sky stuff, skip the paraphenalia(accents), skip the torches, etc... Put in your Playerstart and some weapons and ammo and run about. THAT DONE ... (and if not BeFore) go to Wolf's site:
http://unreal.gamedesign.net
Select: Tutorials
from the left side at the top
Select: UnrealEd
from the left center
DOWNLOAD *all* of them and print them out !!!
Then ********** DO ************ all of them that you find the least interest in. That's what I did and I'm certain everyone else pretty much has done. As far as building your Dream map ... start "small". My FIRST map was a castle(and probably my best map) and it never got finished. Why? Because it is huge and intricate(can't count the secret passageways) and ,in hindsight, could be broken up into several small maps. After two years and multiple pleas for help online I had to give up on it. LOL Should have named it Crash:TheCastle. I moved on to make smaller maps - successfully. I told you to jump in the stream, but you'd better learn how to "tread water" first !!! LOL
Best wishes ... keep at it.

Re: Rotating rooms and their crash effect factor
Heh yeah your right Flap. I guess I am moving too quickly at that.
Alright this time I'll keep to the theory of starting small, then when I can at least finish a map that doesn't crash when you load it I'll know I can move on heh. Sorry about asking all these questions, I'll refer to the 'torials for guidance through all the things in their respective amount of difficulty.
I guess it's just that the editor is such a powerful but delicate tool, it's easy to get lost in and to know if your going too far lol. But yeah I'll keep at it. This time I'll concentrate on a single one or two floor map the most, maybe mostly cube rooms. I guess it's not really nessacary to use barrels or boxes to hold weapons and ammo either, their quite efficient just laying on the ground.
Thanks for all the help and advice everyone ^^

Listen Up EVERYBODY !!!!!
NEVER *not ever* hesitate to ASK QUESTIONS. The single greatest attribute we Homo sapiens possess is our ablility to communicate knowledge to others of our species. Who ever you are asking ... DIDN'T know the answer at one time. If they act like you are inferior because you don't know it and they do ... well ... maturation is a long and arduous journey ... many creatures get lost along the way Ususally stopped by a calm pond that is reflecting their own image. When you encounter those ... quietly move on. They are dangerous and self absorbed and of little (if any) use to a cognitive being.
This site is MADE to ask questions !!! Which, to me, speaks volumes about the integrity and intellect of its founders...
There are NO dumb questions. "Dumb" exists only in the resignation to not ask questions.
