00Unreal development collection

Post by Henry00 »

Hi guys thanks for joining this topic.
For the ones who do not know my history in Unreal should go to www.stargateunreal.com

Now then, let me get straight at it, I have a hudge part of my programming skills and especially my life, where I am standing now thanks to Unreal, especially since I started to map when I was about 10 - 11 and scripting when I was about 13 where I joined stargateunreal, ANYWAY, I wanted to return the favour ;D

I started working on the  00Unreal development collection, here you will find various tools for developing inside Unreal's boundaries. This goes from mapping, to modding, to even scripting. I have recently started and I am going to keep this up until I get Smirtfsch to put it in the editor under tools or something since the tool selection menu is all ftp based this means you can download recent files etc.

Some screenshots of what I have been doing so far:

Main interface

The UnrealED dungeon creator, you can easely draw dungeons and import them in UnrealED ( will have tons of possibilities, I am a bit early, I will keep you all posted!

Inside the editor

This will be where I will post updates on progress, thanks for reading!

But on the other side I did fix the compile speed of exporting up to 90% more speed, really.

Well then, finally another update to the UnrealED dungeon maker!
Some shots and to redownload press download again in the main tool menu ( wich will hopefully be added in the UnrealED )  :)

But that's a whole lot of brushes, can't you merge some of them which are obviously meant to have the same texture?

Looks interesting, although I dont know how this tool might help with the expection of creating cubes. But I am looking forward what you will make out of it.

Thanks to pitbulls idea: new! curves ;D

Some shots of latest process on this tool:

Curves:

Demo dm map:

The Editor also supports saving and loading dungeon projects ( happy I did ).
But that's a whole lot of brushes, can't you merge some of them which are obviously meant to have the same texture?
Well.. I prefer not to do that, I am having alot of problems with coding the verticles for all the brushes already, this would also mean alot of work in figuring out who or what its shape currently is ( as in multiple cubes forming 1 rectangle ) it would slow down my ability to add brushes too because of calculation work for them.. Lets see how it goes for now  :-/

( Editor download was already updated btw )

Oh one more, this was only 40x40 grid..
DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME  ;D

This is looking very promising to me thus far. I'm thinking this could be very useful in the creation of static meshes. I'm also betting Henry is gonna go a bit nuts with this. Now I'm getting excited.   [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Hmm, thinking about it, since you have a grid, you could automatically create paths there.

All new GUI wich is 100% functional, also shows the news.
Many many more objects added to the toolbox and as far as I know its pretty much bug free :)

Maybe in the next release, for now I actually wanted to move on to the next tool unless ofcourse someone has another brilliant shape idea  ;D

Next is a communication platform, you will see what I mean soon, it includes a chat. ;)

Well then, it all turned out a little differently then I expected, and I did not write my own chat because of the network usage, instead.. I took a famous one that most of you probably already know :D

KamiSama is ThexDarksider lol

I am planning on some more features, but for now it turned out to be pretty usefull, I even gave it settings to change opacity or keep on top so it will act like a toolwindow from UnrealED.

Well then I hope I will see you all around, the idea behind this communication tool is like when mapping and there is an expert online you can ask why your mover has tons of collision bugs and he can awnser it is because you manually scaled the red brush.
Tool is added in the main tool interface thing. Hope to see you there!

:)

IT SUDDENLY CAME TO ME!!!
Pathnodes, how could I forget them, added them, more presize positioning Unreal cannot get!  ;D

I also fixed the bounciness of the user interface, it  always disappeared when done compiling etc or when choosing export file, its calmer now lol

Hah, told you you could make paths easily :D
The diagonal paths look a little bad, though, but I don't think you can do anything about it.

Yes you're right lol but I kinda like how the cross is red it fits in the image :D
But as you look closely Unreal did build a perfect path in that mess.

Well guys I have been a little afk from the topic but I actually was working on it.
I have created a new list of updates and tools that I want to build:

Unreal script writerCan write code for you and find&fix errors, clean up the code while you write it adds forgotten semicolons ( ; ) and lots more. Unexperienced people can create proxmines with it in less then 2 minutes.Unreal mover repairerBelongs to a little UnrealED interface, it can repair the collision bugs you get when you scale the brushes manually.
It will probably work over the clipboard.Actors&TriggersBelongs to a little UnrealED interface, the most basic to the most complicated default trigger combinations, like playing a sound effect on touch, it allows exporting to clipboard for a paste in UnrealED and it can export a step by step walk-through to get the desired result.Cutscene DesignerBelongs to a little UnrealED interface, with a little trouble you can create cutscenes using this tool, still a bit unclear in details.Unreal Terrain DesignerA little like TerraEdit, but probably a bit more complex in the end, at least covering all the wanted aspects of terrain. Can probably create dungeons too.new 2D shape editorBelongs to a little UnrealED interface, UnrealED already has a great tool for creating 2D shapes, but I want to give it a swing myself, this includes importing bmp files and it can generate the points for you etc.

And I still have some updates to the UnrealED dungeon maker, like actor placement and other great things you might enjoy  :D
Thanks to The Great Emerald he just now gave me the idea of diagonal paths, not bad!

I hope this brings back interest and tell me what you think, and to get in contact and help me out you can add me on msn I filled that in. Ok guys cya around!
