Searching for projects

Post by Torax »

Hello guys.
Are here any interesting projects to participate in? Searching for some Unreal work..
I can show myself as hobbyists in 3D modelling (learning Blender, know it's basics of model creation and exporting to UEngine 2.0 and 2.1 (Unreal 227i) in .psk\.psa format; know MS3D in modelling, now gain experience in animating). Also some knowledge of writing code (not a full noob).

Does anybody need any help? Or know where help can be needed? :-/

Hello.

Great idea, learning Blender: I personally never could get into it because it just isn't built the way I think: our philosophies are different, so I always find unsurmoutable obstacles in my way. Just two days ago, I put an end to 10 years trying to get into it.

As far as using your competence, I don't need them and I don't personally know people who do, but I'm sure you will not be long without an offer: there are loads of ideas waiting to be realized here. Right now, I think you could try to contact Delacroix, who is always working on ten mods at the time and might have a use for your talents. Don't hesitate to ask UT2004 communities as well: it relies much more on 3d models and might be a good source. Check the forums of beyond Unreal, or roam the Epic forums for that: I'm sure there are people who need some help. If you want to stick to the first Unreal Engine, make an announcement on unrealsp.org too: there are mappers there who need help, I'm sure.

At any rate, good luck, and don't worry: if you have no offer soon, you can make your own map with Blender skills.
You must construct additional pylons.

Thnx for advices :)
About first Unreal Engine...have an least two ideas that i can explain in words:
- exporting Nali Weapons 3 from UT to Unreal
- make full restyle of whole Unreal 1 content (to make new possibilities of lastest Unreal patch better look with improved models.... in cause i checked this by importing skeletal mesh of weapon with animation with something about 3000+ polys, using psk and psa - and it worked perfectly)

Those ways that i mostly about to work now..or something like them.

EDIT
Here's an example of my work. Made specially for porting into Unreal and UT (with keeping in mind polygonal lymits of UEngine).
Something around 3000 polys. This is old render, in last one added some details into model.
Imported version have nearly 3500 polys (added hands for 1st person view)

Hey, wait a minute, for years, smirftsch has been talking about redoing all the Unreal stock meshes for decorations in high-details. Contact him here, that's something he's been asking for years now! You might just have found a great project!

Well that's no a greater work: it would consist in making better versions of the trees, vases, barels, and son on of Unreal. Maybe even under your skill, given the weapon pick above, but that's something you could get publicity with.
You must construct additional pylons.

Some things can be exported directly from UT2k4. Or it's not a way?

It wouldn't do, smirftsch has a responsibility towards Epic not to use copyrighted assets, and he's a bit monitored AFAIK.
You must construct additional pylons.
