Knifee Model Conversions
Sorry about another topic but I figured this would be better than posting in the main Knifee thread.
I have a question for any model makers / editors / people who work with models.
Does anyone want to offer to extract and convert Knifee's skeletal meshes to LOD meshes? I figured this would be better since it would no longer be stricken to 227 only. So, if anyone would like to offer, here's what you'd be up against:
Extracting the skeletal meshes from TOModels.u, converting 27 skeletal meshes into LOD meshes, then sending me them to try out on the guns (test for mesh errors, all anims, etc).
If anyone would like to help us on this, it would be greatly appreciated.
Either post here, PM me, email me (uasmatrix@aim.com), add my MSN (uasmatrix@hotmail.com), tell someone to tell me, it really doesn't matter Lol.

Re: Knifee Model Conversions
You CAN'T convert Skeletal meshes into LOD Meshes. Now, i'm not a modeler or something, but i do know converting Skeletal to LOD is not possible.

Re: Knifee Model Conversions
Technically impossible to directly convert, skeletal models are fundamentally different, it makes as much sense as converting an audio file into a lodmesh.
However i think milkshape 3d can export and read unreal's skeletal models (psk and psa), AS well as vertex meshes (d/a.3d), so it might work if you import into milkshape, then export as vertex model? (and obviously losing all the skeletal data)
But on that subject you'd better ask someone who actually works with milkshape (i never did).
EDIT: edited my post a bit late, at work and the boss came by

Re: Knifee Model Conversions
I have before. I had the half-life 2 crowbar model as a skeletal mesh and I converted it into a LOD mesh using Milk Shape. I don't think I did it well though which is why I figured I'd ask for someone who has skills in this lol

Dunno how in the hell I did it with HL2 crowbar...but anyways I suppose knifee will have to be 227 only, eh.

Entirely possible, but the animations screw up, BADLY.

Re: Knifee Model Conversions
It's not really needed, it would just setback Knifee even longer.
