Translucent + mirror

Post by Hyzoran »

We all know that Translucent plus mirror makes a surface relflect an image while still showing the texture, but how do you make a surface Reflect, show a texture, AND be see-through? This would make Ice textures look better.

I believe you cannot do that, not on official (not 227) Unreal, anyway.

I've made the brush transluced, two sited and semisolid.

That surface doesn't seem to be reflecting anything so that's just normal translucency.

Hyzoran means having the same effect as "translucent" and "mirror" tags combined in a texture, but with the end result being actually translucent, not opaque as is the case of the former.

Edit: In fact, he wants something akin to this:

That's actually a translucent liquid surface with a translucent + mirror pool base underneath. Of course this kind-of-hack only works on very shallow pools.
