It's been awhile, need help
It's been awhile since I made a texture package and I am having some problems with it, I made some bmps that are within the multiples of 64, I load them to a new package, they appear fine and save without problems, I add them to the map, rebuild, save and then play map to check it out, and where I put the new texture, I get that default grey bubble texture, any clues on this? Can't remember what I'm missing, if anything.

The Bubble(Default texture) would suggest the texture is not there, if Unreal is unable to locate the texture, it will either chrash on the error of it will replace the supposed texture with the Default one.
As of why the texture is not there, if you use a seperate Unreal for mapping and testing, than of course make sure the package is added to the Unreal you test with.
As for adding the textures, in this post you can find the excact Photoshop settings for adding textures to Unreal (including the S3TC textures).

Re: It's been awhile, need help
I had the same problem once ...
I opened the map I was working on, then I imported a few pcx textures and saved the package as a utx file ... all seemed OK. I used the textures, did an F8 rebuild and got the "default" texture, just as you did.
What I did to solve the problem was ...
I opened the editor (as if starting a new map) and imported the pcx textures and saved the package as a utx file.
Then I opened the map I was working on, loaded up the utx texture file I had made, used the textures in the map, did the F8 rebuild ... it worked like a charm.
I don't know if this will work for you or not - it did for me.

They are there, I can open them fine, I erased the texture pack and tried to make a new one, but now it's not even letting me make a new package, I think my unrealed in screwed, might just reinstall and start over.
