It's been quite a while since oldunreal had an overhaul, but we are moving to another server which require some updates and changes. The biggest change is the migration of our old reliable YaBB forum to phpBB. This system expects you to login with your username and old password known from YaBB.
If you experience any problems there is also the usual "password forgotten" function. Don't forget to clear your browser cache!

Release dates set .. possibly?

To find and remove the bugs we needed every bug known in current 226. You can still review them here.

Release dates set .. possibly?

Post by jackrabbit »

I just saw on the news section that on today the 24th oldunreal is really progressing on the new patch. I know it is hard to say, but I would like to ask oldunreal for a prediction in when the new 227 patch will be released. 8)

there are a lot of small fixes, things to care about...the major problems are solved so it seems, but currently it's hard to say, some small problems may turn into a lot of work. We keep ya informed, always have a look into the "bugs already fixed" thread.

Epic's traditional "Two Weeks".

Seriously tho, it will be done when it's done...there are a lot of big things that have been fixed sofar but it's nearly impossible to tell how long it will take to finish up.

I say, take as long as yopu want , their is no hurry :)

rushing doesn't get things done

few questions on an unrelated matter,

will their be alot fewer gpfs?
will the improved directx 8.0 support make it run faster, make it look better or both?

lol yes I do recommend you take all the time you need to fix all the bugs. The reason im rushing and am so exited for this new patch is for redirecting files for your server from an ftp. This will really help me run a server for U1 streight from my pc

That's not even planned for the current patch right now...plus, if we DID add it in 227 then only 227 clients could take advantage of it. (it's more likely to be a feature of 228, and we don't know if we will even do a 228 yet :))

Just to let everyone know, Direct X is at version 9.0c now, which does look much better than 8.0 and offers a few more features.

My understanding is that there are features (rendering elements) that Direct X has caught up with, but that aren't coded in the "original" Unreal driver for Direct X to take advantage of?

Someone please correct me if this is not right...

Directx9 is out for quite a while now...maybe a year or so, thats true, and newer features are in it- but making such features usable requires much more than only change some things in the driver- currently for 227 is no further update planed, because its major part is bugfixing. If and which new features are going to be implemented is another question, once we are done with 227 we are going to discuss that, probably here in the forums will be a thread for it then.
