It's been quite a while since oldunreal had an overhaul, but we are moving to another server which require some updates and changes. The biggest change is the migration of our old reliable YaBB forum to phpBB. This system expects you to login with your username and old password known from YaBB.
If you experience any problems there is also the usual "password forgotten" function. Don't forget to clear your browser cache!

Verdigo, although i fully agree with that in my opinion i want to listen to the community, for them i'm doing this (well and myself, but i see myself as part of it).

One thing Im pretty sure of is that if 227 was to bring golds security problems, those of that are running 226 servers would still run 226 and not upgrade, the same reason we dont use 225.
Unless of course we ran fake upaks in serverpackages which still means no gold players.
I wouldnt like to see 227 make upak a requirement as this brings too many security probs. How would you stop a 226 upak player and not a 227 upak player?

Unless you dont like the mods, but the main thing here is that they can still be exported and rebuilt by the modding community.
I think Smirftsch is right to dump Upak if to make it Gold compat. Especially just for the sake of a few weaps.
Really this is just room for thought and a further 2 cents worth

Actually theres been many vers of Upak since RTNP first came out. Most likely all would work with any of the maps.
Upak.dll can be dropped also, its just not needed,. This is for the predator and nothing else (as far as I know, or as far as ive looked).
I re-coded the predator so I dont need it, dunno why legend went this way. But I guess in these upaks they also did their own vers, ive never checked.
If not i'll happilly donate some predator code etc. But to be honest these maps would most likely be easy for anyone to convert to a NON upak with modded rtnp weapons pack and textues. There wasnt THAT many
I guess these could be tested in a non gold server Using the gold DM maps to try and find the best one.
BTW do you want me to supply you with a link to the beta maps to see what were doing?

I thought of something the other day...What makes a a gold user able to join a 225 server and not a 226 server in the first place? When I try to join my own server with my gold installation, I get the following error
Could not find the file specified? What file? I guess not having the UGold source you wouldn't know. But whats on line 691 of UnChan.cpp in the source you do have? You don't have to tell me exactly. Is it anything outstanding that would give a hint to what file its looking for thats not there? Why does UGold look for this nefarious file in 226 servers and not 225 servers? Ah so many questions, so little time...

I know its a pain, but no not at the moment. Perhaps when its released some people might host it but its not public yet as there still a lot to do. Basically the maps are being tested while further work and bugs are fixed.isnt there a mirror which is not fileplanet ?? :-[
If I get time I might have more content to add aswell.
But basically you can see that Upak isnt needed for a fix, theres been a few people that have done similar.
The Upak.dll isnt needed if the predator is re-coded.
Spacemarines are now a scriptedpawn, and Ive made a new armor complete with a hud system and menus. Took me several months to complete the marines mod.
All compat with UT aswell. All this makes me nervous with a 227 patch looming
But really all im saying is that none of RTNP/Gold stuff has to go to waste as many modders make use of it anyway, so it doesnt need to be a requirement to add to the patch.
Theres no need that you download the beta, its only if you was interested to see what I mean
Theres also many reworked Upaks available on the net, perhaps some of these could be tested to see if they could be recommended d/loads or substitutes.
In other words scrap the upak system and recommend any of the above. The Upak.dll deffinately needs to go, all it does is make gold a windows game and has very little purpose.
Really Upak would be better with no player class etc theres just so many security holes, and just contain the weapons, monsters and effect classes and to do all that just for the single player ver of RTNP just isnt worth it, not forgetting the COOP ver doesnt work, which is why several teams re-do it
