Win2k problem with OpenGL

Post by Xile »

Hey folks.

Unreal doesn't seem to want to load with OpenGL. I had WinXP Pro installed a few days ago, formatted, and installed Windows2000 and now when I try to use OpenGL mode, Unreal goes into fullscreen, then just dies. It closes and I get brought back to my desktop. Im using the same version of drivers ect... except for a different OS. Software mode, and Direct3D mode both work. But OpenGL usually gives me a higher frame rate then Direct3D. I have all the latest drivers and all that mumbo jumbo. I tried the newest OGL drivers from here, and the ones that came with 266f.

Any ideas?

Windows 2000 has full OpenGL support, so that's not the problem. It's probably something related to your graphics card drivers. Try to download the latest official Win2000 drivers for your card.

I have more/less a simular problem,

I use Win2000 too, for my card i need to use OpenGl patch 2.1.0.7. Works fine, but......... if i want to turn of shiny surfaces or coronas the same thing happens. Uneal just disapears with no remarks.

My neighbour had the same prob, he can't use 2.1.0.7 and needs to use 2.1.0.6 for the same reason as you mentioned.

So maybe try an older OpenGl patche like 2.1.0.6 and/or try different settings.

Its not true that the latest always works better.........

the older patches seem to have some probs with the latest nvidia drivers. The new patches coming soon should work fine.
