No fix, some of the textures have bad connection, don't understand why the texture artist did this....

Same thing on some computer keybord in the first level.

Try to ignore it (as the blood spilled on the floor)
but if you extract the texture with ut package tool, correct it and send it backe to me, I might make a fix for this particular file....

yes, a lot of packages need reworks, maybe we should make a contest ? creating replacements for the fucked up and not hi-res-yet texture packages for unreal...but i think my lil page is not visited enough to do that...

Maybe maybe not.... We might find a lot of people wanting to know that their stuff is one every one's computer.

We could announce that to other sites as weel.

The hires textures weren't hi-res at the beginning they were just reworked in fact. Many were applied a sort of detail bump mapping. It wouldn't be so hard to do if we set limit to the contest.

Great idea you have here Smirftsch. :D

We need to think a bit more about it but I find it full of promises.

First to make a contest we should fix another little bug i found working with UnrealEd.
I'm building a map called Bisanzio, after installation of s3tc, textures are not displayed correctly in the editor, simply they are black...
.....no idea ?

With Ut this not happens, (i use opengl render in ut that works with s3tc)

i dont want you all to think im laming you.im not. i truly think you have done a great job.the black texture thing happened to me also when i was trying to substitute the textures in genearth.utx couldnt see what i needed to replace because it was black.if you delete genearth.utx and replace from the unreal disk u still get about 90% of the effect of the patch.i can live with that... on a plus note i was able to join games on the net no problem.

No, no problem for me so far.

The problem is that the editor doesn't work with S3TC textures. So in order to edit maps you have to replace the textuyures by the old ones. I'll try find a better solution than replacing the files all the time (changing the unreal ed ini might work, but I need more time.)

1: Copy all the textures from the Unreal CD to a subfolder in Unreal (for example "Original Textures")
2: Open Unreal.ini and edit the line that reads:
Paths=..\Textures\*.utx
To
Paths=..\Original Textures\*.utx

Then save the ini as a seperate file (for example original.ini)
3: Save this into unrealed.bat

@echo off
cls
if not exist unreal.ini goto :error
if not exist original.ini goto :error2
ren unreal.ini old.ini
ren original.ini unreal.ini
unrealed
ren unreal.ini original.ini
ren old.ini unreal.ini
goto :end

:error
cls
Echo Unreal.INI not found! Please run the game first, and be sure to modify the line Paths=..\Textures\*.utx !
goto :end

:error2
cls
Echo Original.INI not found. Be sure to create the file from a copy of Unreal.INI, and be sure to edit the line Paths=..\Textures\*.utx !
goto :end

Echo The end

Then change the shortcut on the startmenu from unrealed.exe to unrealed.bat

Voila, should work just fine!

Great! too bad there isn't an ini for the editor and one for the game itself.....
