I still use older map editors and they are brilliant. I had the chance to use Maya Creative in exchange for money, and everything about it felt great. There was a topic I posted about game tools in my "a while ago an installer went wrong" where developers opened up about giving designers the right tools.
I think UEd must have been based on something like Maya? The colour scheme is similar and ideas to keyboard to actual map playing seem like there are less walls in the way. You have a good idea for a map and UEd makes it happen.
That's how it feels for me.

It's been quite a while since oldunreal had an overhaul, but we are moving to another server which require some updates and changes. The biggest change is the migration of our old reliable YaBB forum to phpBB. This system expects you to login with your username and old password known from YaBB.
If you experience any problems there is also the usual "password forgotten" function. Don't forget to clear your browser cache!
