Custom bot skins/models on Linux GSM dedicated server

UT now belongs to the "old" Unreal as well. Supporting it for OpenGL and Sound its time to put up a board now.

Custom bot skins/models on Linux GSM dedicated server

Post by Murderbot »

I'm having issues getting custom bot skins/models to work on a dedicated server running using the Linux GSM scripts. I can configure the bots' general skill level, and how many bots there are, but I can't select any custom models/skins or behaviour for them.

I believe I just need to put the relevant Bot<foo>=<bar> entries into the [Botpack.DeathMatchPlus] section of the ini file that's loaded by the start script, but that doesn't work, although that section clearly controls the bot number and general skill level. So I think I'm doing something wrong, but I can't figure out what.

The .ini file I'm editing is serverfiles/System64/ut99server.ini in the server install dir. I'm trying to set the bots to use a skin that I believe is installed by default, so the model and skin should be on the server (Xan Mk2, default skin).

Can anyone point out what I'M doing wrong, or help me diagnose the problem?

Do you mean the models don't display in the selection window at all?

I don't know how to show the bots, or models, in a window. This is a dedicated server running on a remote machine that I only have shell access to. The only way I know of to configure the server is via the .ini file.

Click that:

The thing that starts server games (as that's the practice one) has the same button on the same tab.

The thing that starts the server is a shell script on a remote Linux machine. I don't have any button or so that I click to start the server. It's all remote without any UI. And changing the bots in the .INI doesn't seem to work.

Then do this:
· Go into practice mode and setup your bots in-game in their selection windows.
· All of that gets setup in your User.ini file.
· Whatever the .ini file that has the things you've been trying to edit, copy & paste the bot setups from the User.ini file to that.

Problem solved.
