Pariah, the former champion [Male3]

PARIAH
The former champion of the Grand Tournament

Author : Epic Games, team colors by HeyItsDuke, compiled and packaged by TigerTheGreat
Requirement : Unreal I Models
Download : from ModDB

Description :

The following is a relic from the early days of Unreal Tournament development cycle. This skin was hidden in the sources of Botpack system file for version 220 of Unreal Tournament, which is the earliest known alpha of the game. At this point no official leaked build of this version exists - various versions of just Botpack.u were compiled, some fixed, some not, and eventually a "franken" build was compiled by Leo_TCK from 220-compatible UT maps and a fairly fixed, usable Botpack.u. To date, that last option is the recommended way to experience UT build 220 in the most authentic way, however starting from build 222, UT no longer used Unreal's player classes, thereby meaning the skin was to be cut.

This is it, restored. The variant of Unreal player characters linked in the thread seems optimal to use these models - all were enriched with team colors specific to each individual skin and they feature support for custom skins.

This is it - Pariah is officially back in the Grand Tournament, ready to kick ass.

Huge shoutout for HeyItsDuke for team colors. You may expect more skins from us in the near future!

Cool...sorry for replying only now, though me and dcx talked about this privately before.

It is too bad that the original unreal code only supported one set of team skins for every model though. That was rectified later with the tournamentplayer system in ut, but until then everything was locked for one team skin per model, including the new models in early UT/BotPack addon.

After all, the teamgame support was worked on last for Unreal multiplayer and was left hanging for a while.

This skin dates even to the pre-220 days most likely along with some other stuff. Shame we only got bits and pieces from the sources and a config file from version 219 i believe from the 221 files, which was a hidden gem on its own and many of the maps were made for those builds too. There are even missing maps like DmFusion and Dom-Ketzen among others that were made in the pre-220 days. Ketzen was even reused/improved map from one of the unreal beta days acording to Inoxx.

EDIT: I did use the skin for Unreal PSX Episode I, and the character's name, to replace another important but unnamed character that was meant to appear (there were even jack's recorded voice lines-the only thing recovered from voice acting- talking to him, but we never knew the speech back since no document with the dialogue survived).

However that character was originally meant to be jack's dad and I changed it because well...the original story felt in many ways like Hamlet retelling. Hari was going to be Jack's uncle, too. That was the major thing I changed in the story for the rework...
