Heya all
I'm trying to run Unreal Gold 226b and join matches online on a W98 system.
I do have internet connectivity, so that's not the problem. I changed the master server entry and am seeing a lot of servers. However, when I try to join some there is no progress. The message "joining... " shows with the option to cancel via F10, but nothing ever happens.
Are these servers locking me out or is that version just too old to play online?
Any input appreciated
EDIT: I actually made a mistake and added UT servers instead of Unreal servers...

however, while it now downloads additional files, there are a) no server with players and b) it will usually crash once launching, probably because the server expects 227+...
So I guess I'm out of luck.

It's been quite a while since oldunreal had an overhaul, but we are moving to another server which require some updates and changes. The biggest change is the migration of our old reliable YaBB forum to phpBB. This system expects you to login with your username and old password known from YaBB.
If you experience any problems there is also the usual "password forgotten" function. Don't forget to clear your browser cache!

Yeah, the majority of servers are running on versions 227i, 227j32 or 227j release. However, i don't think you can install those on windows 98 (atleast from what i've heard), I think you need Vista atleast.

227i runs on XP. With KernelEx it can also run on 98 and Me. This would allow online play for a good many servers.
