utglr site down?

Post by HunterZ0 »

http://cwdohnal.home.mindspring.com/utglr/ says it's exceeded its monthly bandwidth, but it's only the 7th day of this month. Anyone know of an updated mirror or some other place where the latest builds are mirrored?

An actual mirror i dunno, but for UT you can grab most versions from here: UT Patches If correct the latest versions should be on there.

Maybe some fruitcake downloaded an overly amount of data, like what happened to this site a couple a years ago. Or maybe he did upload a certain larger file that got downloaded a lot. But i agree its uncool since its too early in the month.

Maybe someone intentionally DDoS'd the site, like I like to do to the network in my school.

I thought "Mindspring" was bought out? Or am I wrong? That company sounds dammed old though...

Unfortunately I'm more interested in the Deus Ex version of his renderers :p

Yeah it redirects to an Earthlink error page I think.

As for a mirror, i forgot to mention the Internet Archive which stores pages as well:

http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://cwdohnal.home.mindspring.com/utglr/

But the downloads cannot be trusted, mostly they are corrupt !!! So dont use those !

don't worry, it will be up soon again- although maybe with a new address then. Was talking with Chris, its some problem with the hosting company, not the bandwidth ;)

Lol, i was about to sent him a mail, just in case he wasnt aware of it. And i never finished my e-mail conversation from a while back with him. But its good to know hes on top of it.

Secondary, i was about to create a mirror, since that is simple to create, unlike my sites its simple straight forward stuff. Will do so anyway, so he can link back to it if needed.

That i dont know because i have to use the archive as well, since the actual pages are down.....

I am surprised btw you got a working download from the archive. Normally those are corrupt to the bone.

Looks like the OpenGL v3.5 is out which is good because I almost downloaded from the ut99.fr site or whatever that I noticed had the file the other day; but v3.4 is still listed as the most stable version. Any thoughts on this?

Also, the D3D8 link for UT does not work (I was just downloading files just in case I might want to try them).

I am sure he will fix that, but if you need the file right now you can get it here: D3D Patches

And i shouldnt forget to adjust the pages to his new site.

OK, I think I have UT configured on my new computer the way I like it with all the maps I want and no problems and everything. Any news on if the OpenGL v3.5 is stable yet?:)

It was just supposed to be a day or two of downtime back at the end of March... Instead, seven weeks later now, I've almost finished taking care of email address updates for the last decade in preparation for terminating my account with my old ISP. Since I don't work on the renderer so much these days, a large part of the new domain name is for the option to tweak the MX record if the need arises. The renderer is still important of course, but I've been too busy with work to spend much time on it lately. Still need to take care of that email address update on my hasty copy of my own webpage, along with uploading the old files.

MindSpring got merged into EarthLink a long time ago back in 2000. EarthLink seems to have been going downhill over the years. My page was still just on personal webspace that came with my old dialup account. Haven't used the dialup part much for years, but kept it around as a backup option. It still has a 1 GB monthly bandwidth quota on the web part, which seems fairly low compared to most things these days, but for the small renderer download and my simple webpage it usually worked. Hit the monthly quota at least once or twice before, but only lost a few days at the end of a month and it reset okay.

So back in March, I think the combination of me having come out of renderer hibernation to fix a few things and create 3.5, ENBSeries updates for Deus Ex, and the TNM release combined to push it over again. But this time it didn't reset. I've talked to EarthLink support a few times now, but a month or so later after they twice said they'd look into it, I'm getting the feeling that's not going anywhere.

The guy posting above you is the owner of that site.

And welcome to the forums Chris, and cool you got your own site now. It by definition means you got alot more freedom to work with. And you can create your own mail adresses and forums if you want. And pretty much limitless space and bandwidth.

Will you leave a link to your new site from the MindSpring site? Once it gets fixed?

Thanks for the update Chris. Glad to see the site up and running again with new versions I hadn't been aware of, and sorry to hear about your ISP woes.
