It's been quite a while since oldunreal had an overhaul, but we are moving to another server which require some updates and changes. The biggest change is the migration of our old reliable YaBB forum to phpBB. This system expects you to login with your username and old password known from YaBB.
If you experience any problems there is also the usual "password forgotten" function. Don't forget to clear your browser cache!

Guys I would like to thank you immensely. All the port forwarding and all the other suggestions put me on the road to success. The final nail in my coffin was to set up a virtual server on that time/warner router. Alas we finally have success after 2 days of unrelenting frustration (well really.. I did do a lot of other things also) but it was taking it's toll on this old 59 y.o. geezer and to think I have a degree in computers from the 80's. I think I halted to long and caught fire....if you get the pun.
Server is "Inch High Sniper Guy" and yes I am the originator of that server name and a guy named " ?? " " Borland " from like the U.K. took it over when I quit serving for several months. My wife came up with the name way back in 99 when I ran many enlarged room maps.

Is it running at the moment? Because it doesnt show up in my server browser.

Had to do a few tweeks after seeing it run. Got them done. It is up but only with 1 very big (explorable and much weapons , items to find) map. I am trying to ready some of the IHSG maps again. I have managed to lose somewhere between 5-10 gig of maps, textures,etc... I still have a few of my server maps but it is definiyely like starting over again.

I tried everything myself and just ended up DMZ'ing my server. No matter what settings I used the server could never get past the router. I hate to go that route but I just don't have a great deal of choice.

In case you swing back this way, how is the IHSG server going to be set up? I used to play those a lot back in the day if they were set up as no R&G. Something really satisfying about stealthing up to a kill.

I hope to avoid the R&G roll. I love the snipes and camping. It will run with some of the old Bathroom_Professional_SpecialEdition maps etc. Pretty much it will be weapons and items I created off of an original weapon mod like infil. or U4E. I am running one map, when I get it ready, That will have a cloaking ( not invisibility) device in a little street/rooftop battle. There is a cloak/ghostlight as secondary on infil shotgun that helps shine a light on cloaked player. Also a twisted version of Ariza. The rest will be land of the giants sniper maps. Just running "Dragon's Lair" for now to re-examine some of my copies of the maps I used to run. Some are incomplete weapon/item maps. I lost almost all final versions of the "Inch High Sniper Guy" maps through the years but alas I found 2 disks with some maps and associated files. "Dragons Lair" has some unique weapons in it and pick-ups that help traverse its expansive nature. And there is a dinner bell (map affecting earthquake) when no one can find each other. The map was done by me back in the day and it ran on my server the last year or so of IHSG. I combined 3 or 4 separate maps into 1 and added many more sub-terranean passages. Only 1 or 2 very minor bsp cuts in the whole map.

Ik this thread is ancient, but since i’m an old Unreal hand myself i’ll drop smth i learned the hard way that i don’t see mentioned here. Even if ur .ini looks right and the ports are forwarded, the server won’t reliably advertise unless the machine’s hostname resolves correctly, Unreal’s master query chokes if the OS is handing back only IPv6 or a local alias. For me explicitly setting the ServerActors=IpServer.UdpServerUplink MasterServerAddress=master.oldunreal.com with a numeric IPv4 and adding a proper entry in the hosts file was the missing piece. Without that, the instance was technically live but invisible on the browser list. Sharing this in case any other old timers try to spin up a classic setup after a decade away, it’s one of those quirks that never got fixed in the original builds
