nice find, didn't think there was a footage surviving from that. This is one of the few things that were publicaly previewed that we do have (the ectsmaps) for build 0.874d, though they probably had a slightly different version of 0.874 on the event and not the codedropped ver.
what was in the original zip was arizax, skydm8 and tundrax plus the map break. The converted 0.871 maps were not part of the distributions that was something by me personaly that delacroix included in the repacks.

Little update:
I uploaded the original master art files & promotional screenshots of Unreal Tournament 2004 because I thought they are a bit rare and cool to see.

I had to hurry so I didn't get to finish the post, either way that shows different things at the 2000 Unreal Engine demo, different angles. If it was posted already then I apologize. I wish someone had a backup of those maps and stuff.
also while viewing the readmes
https://discmaster.textfiles.com/view/2 ... anctum.txt
I noticed that there was a level called DmAware in RtNP, which means that is probably the original name of DmDespair.

This is already known, it was actually extracted from this TGM CD.Leo T_C_K wrote: ↑Mon Sep 08, 2025 2:33 am Is it me or is this one even having clearer quality than the one uploaded to youtube a while back?

Kinda sad this footage was cut and has this ugly ahh green filter on it lmao
Though there's another (even shorter) version on DiscMaster, so not only one magazine got it.

Well if thats the one on youtube then he applied further filters to it like its all wobbly like fisheye or something, this is the original quality at least.Gamesharder wrote: ↑Mon Sep 08, 2025 4:28 pmThis is already known, it was actually extracted from this TGM CD.Leo T_C_K wrote: ↑Mon Sep 08, 2025 2:33 am Is it me or is this one even having clearer quality than the one uploaded to youtube a while back?

That's YouTube's fault. It can automatically put this like zoom adjustment or what it's called on videos.

I finally scored the Polish edition of PC Games CD 4/99 magazine with the UT beta article from which I've learned of the beta's existence to begin with. When it arrives, I'll do a scan + translation.

Re: Unreal Image and Video Collection (Magazines, Beta & Pre-release shots, UT Beta, Box covers and much more!)
Sorry for the very late reply, but I actually ended up doing this while doing research for a video. From what Alan told me, it sounds like Klaris was the prototype for the modern DM-Liandri.
"I was naming each new map I worked on alphabetically, I can't remember what the "I" map was, but L was Liandri (a word I made up purely for that use) and K was Klaris. After working on Liandri-1 for awhile, I put it aside and started working on smaller map that I wanted to have multiple loops bringing the players back to a central combat area. Pretty early in the layout for it, I built what became the Redeemer room, and realized I could use the idea of being in a cavern as a bit of environmental storytelling rather than having a large chunk of playspace that was relatively empty, boring to explore, and didn't serve to keep the players in conflict. The original Liandri had become what we call a run-on sentence. A few decent ideas without a refined connection between them, leading to something much less fun. So I somewhat restarted Klaris with that idea in mind, and the end result is what I ended up renaming Liandri"
Apparently Liandri was just a nonsense word that he had made up for this alphabetical naming scheme, but Brandon Reinhart ran with it and used it as part of the story, so he renamed DM-Klaris to DM-Liandri. Perhaps he had also switched the old DM-Liandri's name in case he wanted to rework it in the future?
I was hoping to find that early version of Klaris, but alas. Hope this is useful to y'all.

Well the version seen in the screenshot seems identical to the 222 version of DM Liandri. A proper UT version appeared in the Forgotten Classics BonusPack (it was released in incomplete state but those maps were finished, so look it up on unrealarchive.org).FTSH wrote: ↑Fri Jan 02, 2026 1:58 amSorry for the very late reply, but I actually ended up doing this while doing research for a video. Re: Unreal Image and Video Collection (Magazines, Beta & Pre-release shots, UT Beta, Box covers and much more!)
While looking at the strategy guide again I noticed some other differences in the screenshots/description of the Deathmatch maps. Ariza doesn't have any structure on the screenshot where the |-| structure was or the pillar in the may07 version or those additional bridges in the release. Its just bare there.
Elsinore doesn't have the secret passage and there's texturing changes theres no wood and there is a health in the middle of the intersection, most of this was noticed before already.
But also Splash it mentions the bug that happens if you don't rebuild the map, we noticed it ourselves while porting maps to the may07 version for example. The warpzones do send players to the center of the room if you don't rebuild them meaning splash was still quite outdated. also not sure about the perspective if the geometry at the upper most spawned changed or not its hard to tell but otherwise it looks identical from the screenshot to the old february version thus the map was probably barely updated before it was cut. Roninmasta's version is a complete fiction anyway.

Most of the Unreal Championship alpha models/animations have been extracted - weapons, characters, critters, vehicles, and decorations. Many of the characters are outright broken, but they were that way to begin with in the game.
Extraction scripts generated by claude.ai, also included.

Lil' update:
I sorted out the UT99 screenshots by versions and map names & also cropped out every magazine shot (even the bad ones) and decided to separate them into two folders:

Does anyone know what map this is? Because I have ZERO clue lol

- 'Around v220-221'—earliest UT screenshots with still showing Unreal 1 weapons, items, etc.

Re: Unreal Image and Video Collection (Magazines, Beta & Pre-release shots, UT Beta, Box covers and much more!)
I found new, unseen footage of early 1997 / late 1997 Unreal beta.
Apparently it was aired on television in the UK back in 1997 under the show "GamesMaster".
It shows the 'sky6' (or sky library) and some weird crypt map.
Kind of like lost footage from the first two trailers, like leftovers(?).
It's from episode 17 of season 6 and the whole thing is on YouTube (tho it's ai upscaled, still not the best quality)
Fortunately tho, it's also on archive.org, and it has (somewhat) better quality among the other uploads, I recommend watching that:
Edit: actually, credits to Semfry. He wrote about it on USP first in 2008. Crazy.
