Happy Birthday?
May 22, 1998. US release date for Unreal!
Surprised not to see news about it here.
I was playing it back then on Pentium 166 (non mmx) with Matrox mystique 2mb in software.

Re: Happy Birthday?
You're 2 months too early bro.
We're still in March, not May (although it's clear where your confusion came from).

Re: Happy Birthday?
It's a real shame Unreal never came to the Nintendo 64. I guess it was due to memory or storage issues, given that carts only reached 64MB in size, and were very expensive.

Re: Happy Birthday?
The N64 controller was extremely poorly designed for FPS. GoldenEye, though lauded nowadays, was a pain to handle. The technical limitations would have required a diminished Unreal to work properly, with very few polygons and tiny textures. I see no reason why Unreal on N64 would have been a positive thing. UT was a very sad thing on console, Unreal would have been too.

You must construct additional pylons.

Re: Happy Birthday?
I cannot even imagine Unreal in N64 due to the hardware limitations of it.
A lot of the novelty of Unreal was exactly what as an engine it could do (lighting, "high-poly" stuff relative to that time, etc), all of which are pretty much impossible to perform in a N64 afaik, and which without the game would quickly loose most of its charm, since the most powerful trait of Unreal is the atmosphere and the design and detail of all of it, which was only achievable by such.
It would be like running a N64 game in an old Gameboy.

Yeah, but there's still more than a year left as of now (November 2019 if I recall).Next year is UT 20th.
