Cel Shading and Unreal?
Cel Shading and Unreal?
I thought to myself recently while playing Unreal and considered this idea would be a nice boost in the art style of this old game. Anyone else think it would be a nice 227 feature?

Re: Cel Shading and Unreal?
Such a thing could just be implemented by building your own OpenGLDrv I imagine.
And kentie's D3D10Drv appears to use shader files so maybe a cel shader can be programmed and fed into his render device.
There's no real point to have such a silly thing merged into 227...

Re: Cel Shading and Unreal?
This has been done in UE-based games such as XIII and Borderlands, although I'm not sure if the cartoonish effect was achieved with true Cel shading or just with textures.
Anway, as han said, it could look nice in Nerf. I think it would also look good in Disney's Brother Bear and any comic/cartoon style game for that matter. I don't think it's necessary for Unreal either, because it's a different style.

Re: Cel Shading and Unreal?
That would not in any way gel decently with Unreal, the atmosphere or the art style.
Re: Cel Shading and Unreal?
I am talking about the black outlines, not the light blending technique. And I will post an example of what I mean, considering the age of the game I think it would be better than bump mapping and realtime shadows lol
