OldUnreal takes over maintenance of the Unreal Tournament code base

UT now belongs to the "old" Unreal as well. Supporting it for OpenGL and Sound its time to put up a board now.

Hello! Yeah... Those are good news!
I'm a UT fan and a Linux enthusiast. It would be nice if I can test the beta version :) I've got some computers to test how the beta version works, check for bugs etc... Two laptops and two desktops running with different hardware. I'm running Debian on all those machines and Fedora on one aswell. It would be nice If I can test how they work so I can report bugs or whatever. Big thanks! :)

I'm not quite sure about the period at the end of my name... maybe that's why I was having some boo-boo at the login lol!

Now you can add me in.

Hi, could I also be added to the list of beta testers? I'm keen on trying out the new linux client.

Out of curiosity: did u make use of this "standard" renderer for linux?

Cheers!

Yes, UTGLR OpenGLDrv is the standard OpenGLDrv on all platforms. We did fix a couple of bugs in it, though.

QUESTION!

Will it have a translation project like Unreal 227? Because I would like to work on that!

We do not have an ETA for the initial release yet, but we feel we are getting close.
Any indication of whether or not the patch might be ready by June?

We've got an annual LAN with 200 folks coming up during the first weekend in June and I convinced the admins to switch the old school-shooter-tourney from Q3 to UT99 by saying there was a new patch in the making. ;D

Is there anything in this patch could potentially help my net stutter issue, such as improvements to UT's netcode?

The original netcode is extremely dated now but solutions such as NewNet have huge limitations such as not being compatible with custom gametypes.

Other people have noticed similar issues with UT's default netcode and issues with online movement:

The actual beast for custom gametypes is UN1e

I didn't know about those versions. Thanks. I'm trying UN1e now and I'll see if it works with BunnyTrack :)

We will be releasing the first Windows betas within the next couple of weeks unless any last-minute issues pop up.

Don't forget to include me in the testing, Anth! I am still anxious to see if this fixes all the virtual memory errors that are preventing me from releasing my UT99 HD mod.

Thank you, I tried it and it works but there are some serious bugs which break some BT maps.

Where can I report bugs? Is there a forum or is the developer on a Discord channel?

I see this is in Beta Testing. I have a question on the updates.... Would it be possible to include a client side patch that stops the Favorites from being automatically resolved and saved as an IP instead of URL to help with dynamic hosting of servers?
