Yea, it's basically the same. But what is Base near Editors used? And if it's a DM map, how can it be not for KotH and Team? Oh, and where's TerranWeaponMatch then, for newer users? Others?
And I tend to edit the install instructions, as my games only contain .unr files.

In the "Game Info" section of the map's properties it's possible to setup the "default" of the map for Dm or Team, etc. You can also put in the "PlayerStarts" for Dm or Coop etc. Those parts of the Readme are just there so the mapper can "suggest" the type of game the map was made for.

As for the "Base" near the editors used ... that's to let others know what other map was used as a "base" for the development of it. For example, the "base" of DmZahltagJStyle4 was DmZahltag.

I setup the GenericMapReadme as a "generic template" for ANY map. Even for ports and mods of maps. This readme was actually first written up for an Unreal 1 map that was ported to UT2004 (with a few minor changes to it).

And about the "Terran," etc ... that's what the "Other" is for - LoL. I kept it for Unreal 1 (225F based) maps mostly, as any maps made with Gold features can only be played on a Gold server by Gold players.

So I kept it following the KIS principle - "Keep It Simple."

But basically ALL readme files are the same. I just happen to have a "blank" template readme on my site available for public download.

Ooh, so that's what's Base... I'll use it then :)
Hopefully I'll release a new map soon, this time 70% of that will be created by me :)

There's also a "blank" readme available in the guidelines section at OldUnreal's Usermaps page. Here's a link to it ...

http://www.oldunreal.com/usermaps/readme.shtml

LoL ... it also has a "Base" too. Now I know where I stole my readme from. Usermaps !!

You know, you were looking a bit too far for it :) Simply look at the topic below this one in the same forum :) It has a blank template which I used.

I remember the old NaliCity had an awesome tool called Readme Generator. You introduced some data and it generated a readme with the proper format.

https://nalicity.beyondunreal.com/site_readmegen.php

Unfortunately it cannot generate files due to a... certain... problem... pertaining all of BU.
