It's been quite a while since oldunreal had an overhaul, but we are moving to another server which require some updates and changes. The biggest change is the migration of our old reliable YaBB forum to phpBB. This system expects you to login with your username and old password known from YaBB.
If you experience any problems there is also the usual "password forgotten" function. Don't forget to clear your browser cache!

Later version of Stéphan Kochen's OpenGLDrv for Linux found

Post by REA »

Hey,

I am not sure if that topic belongs to Linux-Board.

As some of you might be aware, Linux native version of Unreal Tournament (1999) requires Linux port of Chris Dohnal's OpenGLDrv renderer to run properly. Around 2005, Stéphan Kochen ported v3.1 of that renderer to Linux. Later he updated the renderer by cutting some ancient dependencies, but instead of this version, old version has been distributed on Internet, particularly on letsplayut.com.

Luckily, I am able to find the later version thanks to Internet Archive: Wayback Machine. Get it via Wget

https://web.archive.org/web/20090604144 ... enGLDrv.so
https://web.archive.org/web/20090604144 ... n.nl/proj/

Code: Select all

$ sha256sum OpenGLDrv.so
f7d8217b9f0f9430d006b6d2b00f63642b5d80eb8863529b289037e2fc033aa1  OpenGLDrv.so

$ sha256sum OpenGLDrv.so.old
c983dfdfa6f72a8f47242fecce87fa513f9740a46f18540a515c25449fb6047c  OpenGLDrv.so.old
Unlike the old version, this version doesn't depend on libxmu6:i386, libxpm4:i386 packages and ancient libraries like libstdc++-3-libc6.2-2-2.10.0.so, libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3. It supports FrameRateLimit option via .ini edit which is crucial to prevent speeding issues on modern hardware.

It would be beneficial to upload it to a known safe place. Does anybody know the owner of letsplayut.com which seems to be a sound and simple place to distribute the library?

Never mind, ut-files.com has that renderer stored already.

Hello.

Problem is, ut-files.com is also dead.

I'm trying to wget from archive.org but I'm only getting an HTML file.

Is it possible to upload the file somewhere?

Thanks in advance

PS: I managed to download from archive, but you have to choose a different date, like this:

https://web.archive.org/web/20060721235 ... enGLDrv.so

Now to install ut99 on linux.. :D
