Increasing FPS & change brightness

Good day good men and women of UT99.

I am in the process of reviving my unequivocal love for Unreal Tournament but it does not come without complications it seems.

Two issues:
1. For some reason, my FPS is 17 at most (as seen using "stat fps") no matter what renderer I choose.
2. Neither Direct3D or OpenGL allow to change brightness, which is very low.

My specs:
Running game using Steam/Proton 5.0.9
OS: Manjaro 20 KDE Plasma
CPU: Intel i7-3930K
GPU: GeForce GTX 970
RAM: 48GB
Drive: SSD

I followed the advise from protondb.com gang to try the enhanced version of OpenGL but sadly the FPS remains the same without change.

It would be a delight if anyone can recommend or steer me in the right direction as to what I may be doing wrong.
The whole Steam/Proton was a very seamless experience to run a Window game on Linux, I just need to get that desired boyakasha FPS:)

Many thanks!

Also, is there a way to display Ave FPS in-game? "stat fps" shows some stats at the bottom. I remember there was a way to see the average FPS on the right side of the screen.

Thank you kindly! That's that!
I stand corrected, that actually shows me 100 FPS.
It appears that I am suffering from sever OCD and that there is no FPS issue.

However, is there a way to change brightness with OpenGL? The game is quite dark and changing that has no effect.

I'd advise using the native version. Ideally, the 469 patch which currently undergoes closed beta testing.
The old Loki 436 version port should work for you as well I think.

Thank you very much for your answer.
Would you mind pointing me to a resource as to how to run a native version?
Prior to Steam, I tried the "Lutris" version of UT99 which may be the Loki you are referring to? Usng that however, resulted in no sound and I am pretty sure it was using the Steam to run the game.

I used to own UT99 but can no longer can find the CD. By native you mean I have to run the original game from CDs using wine or something along those lines?

Oh, I see.
Guess you'll be better off with what you've got after all.
Good luck figuring out the remaining issues.
Cheers.

Is there a noticeble difference between Lutris (Loki) and Steam\Proton UT99?
I am very new to gaming on Linux, so I really don't know. These are the terms being thrown around.
