Greetings to everyone from Italy.

I'm rediscovering this game with a friend through online coop and it looks so promising. We installed unreal gold with the 227i patch and everything is working flawlessly.

We spent last 3-4 days trying to find resources in order to tailor the experience to best suit our skills and preferences,we found a mod called Jcoopz and we enabled inventory saving server side.

Last thing we would like to set is a certain amount of lives per player, so that after a fixed amount of deaths we have to start the level from the the beginning (kinda like Survival mode in zandronum doom).

Without this its like there's no challenge..we can keep dying over and over and enemies don't respwan. With this enabled,maybe with the option to spectate the player that's still alive, challenge and adrenaline its at his best.

Is there an option we're missing? I think this feature maybe is already in the code and we're missing it somehow.

Hope somebody can give us a hint to set this, and if somebody is interested in cooping with us we can play together once everything is finalized.

then download this and replace it with the JGrass.ini from udhq.zip:

Open Unreal hit tab then type,

Just a few question from an average user:

- does this go together with jcoopz or its a separate thing?

- since my dedicated server is a machine that's somewhere else and i remote control it,  do i need to install these files on that machine only or also on the client side?

It is a separate thing, but I recently wrote an inventory saver which saves a players inventory by IP address to an ini file I could bring into SurvivalCoop if you're interested. 

Yes, you should have the necessary files on the server machine, you could also have them on the clients machine or download them via LAN from the server to Cache.  The server must have all necessary files and Unreal.ini with these lines on serverpackages:

ServerPackages=GxCoop
ServerPackages=SurvivalCoop
ServerPackages=DataStructures
ServerPackages=JGrass

should do it for dedicated server, I will test later to confirm.

Thanks again!  Ive found this line in unreal.ini :

[Engine.GameEngine]
bServerSaveInventory=True

when set to true it works perfectly, don't know if its a feature of jcoopz or not.

If this doesn't work with your survivalcoop and you're so kind to merge it .... this would be more than welcomed of course!

Yes, thats a 227i feature not a JCoopZ feature.

Okay, there were some new problems introduced with the latest compile of JGrass which needed to be "resolved" for SurvivalCoop to work properly.

udhq.zip is still good to use, extract everything in the jgrass folder like instructed.  Here are the new SurvivalCoop files:

For the third time i say thank you for time and dedication.

I was going to write you, as i followed carefully everything you adviced me but i found problems: the server started but no survival mode whatsoever was enabled.



Now with the new files you posted, when i try to launch from console the game crashes. Also no survival coop game mode present if i try to open a game from UI.

if you're running windows, use this command in run to get the dedicated server going:

C:\YourPathToUnreal\227i\System\unreal.exe Nyleve.unr?game=survivalcoop.survivalgame?log=server.log -server

Most likely the server will not run because a package is missing from the jgrass folder included in the udhq.zip file.  Make sure that all the .u's in all those packages are present in the server system folder.  If it's still an issue after you launch this in the run bar in windows a server.log will be generated in the system folder after it fails to launch.

The server.log will indicate which packages are missing preventing the server from running.

yes, it looks like something is up with your gxcoop.u file for some odd reason.
