227i crashes on start

Hi all.

I'm trying to play UnrealGold from Steam with 227i but every time when i start the game it crashes.

DEP exception for unreal.exe is present.

It most assuredly is just that, not turning off DEP except for Windows services.

It still slightly bums me out but it can't be helped until the source is finally released & it can be properly patched & fixed.  Cie la vie!

If its obvious (maybe not) we could try to enable execute on the memory region it's trying to use -- but i somehow doubt it will easy to decipher. https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa366553(v=vs.85).aspx

Could try to disable DEP for the process in a winapi call.

Select All
SetProcessDEPPolicy(0); 

if I understand it correctly, but it seems to be more complicated than that.

Hi.

I tried setting "Turn on DEP for essential windows programs and services only". That resolved the problem!
Any idea which exception should I add besides "unreal.exe"?

Well, that we are working on here, 227j is in progress, although slowly. Smiley

That mentioned problem here however is a bit of strange, I can't reproduce it on any of my boxes and it doesn't seem to affect every machine. I think 227j doesn't cause this problem anymore, but I can't absolutely test it out here.
