Scheduled network outage at September 20, 2016

At Tuesday September 20, 00.00 to 07.00 (CEST, +2 GMT) my network connection can be cut off due to planned network maintenance by my ISP ZeelandNet. In GMT this is from 22.00 on September 19 to 05.00 on September 20. This will cause my game servers, my website and master server to be inaccessible.

At Thursday October 27, 00.00 to 07.00 (CEST, +2 GMT) my network connection can be cut off due to planned network maintenance by my ISP ZeelandNet. In GMT this is from 22.00 on October 26 to 05.00 on October 27. This will cause my game servers, my website and master server to be inaccessible.

Downtime for OS upgrade, June 27 2017

Kicking and screaming I'll be upgrading the OS on my server to Windows 7 x64. Because there is no easy upgrade path from XP x64, it will be a clean reinstall and because Win7 needs much more disk space I'll also be installing a new SSD. Expected downtime will be around one day with some expected restarts afterwards.

The starting date is still dependent on when the SSD arrives. It should arrive today.

Update: Still kicking. Still screaming.  Wink Extended downtime because first installation attempt was completely borked.

Update 2: Well, that did not went well. The brand-new SSD I used for the installation is riddled with bad sectors and needs to be replaced as it cannot hold any data reliably. For now, I returned the server to service using the old SSD.

Unscheduled downtime, July 6, 2017, July 8, 2017.
During a local thunderstorm yesterday evening my internet connection unexpectedly dropped out and did not come back online. This morning I contacted my ISP ZeelandNet and they confirmed the loss of connection and sent out a technician to fix it. This kind person replaced my modem and cable access point, of which the last one was most likely killed by an indirect lightning strike.

I'm not in the process of reconfiguring my router but everything is beginning to get back online. Because I was entirely without a working internet connection, I could not post anything earlier.

Sorry for the downtime. But with my low budget, I cannot afford redundant servers and internet connections. It is just a hobby project after all.

My replacement SSD has arrived, which means I will re-attempt to upgrade my server to Windows 7.
This will result in a downtime of one to several days, depending if everything goes smooth or not.

Unscheduled downtime, December 12, 2017.
A failure in Windows Update required me to reinstall my firewall software. This has completed successfully but the server is currently down for around 30 minutes for making a new image backup.

Unscheduled interruptions, January 27, 2018.
Because of a memory leak in the anti-malware database of my security software Malwarebytes 3, my HyperCoop Custom map server and HyperDM server processes were pushed out of memory causing several unexpected restarts for these servers.

For now the bug seems to have been fixed in the latest database update of MBAM3.

Scheduled network interruptions between May 3, 2018 and May 8, 2018.

Between Thursday May 3, 06.00 and May 8, 17.00 (CEST, +2 GMT) my network connection can be cut off for a few hours due to planned network maintenance by my ISP ZeelandNet. In GMT this is from 04.00 on May 3 to 15.00 on May 8. This will cause my game servers, my website and master server to be inaccessible for the time of the interruptions.

Unscheduled interruptions, May 9 - May ??, 2018.
After the last scheduled network outage of my ISP ZeelandNet I ended up with an unreliable internet connection causing random dropouts. Therefore I am unable to provide you with a reliable online presence. I am sorry, but this is currently beyond what I can fix myself. I made a support request which is currently outstanding with my ISP.

Update 2018-05-15: Today a service person of my ISP replaced my cable(internet) connection outlet. According to him, this most likely fixed the instability but time has to tell. If not, cables have te be dug up in the street which will take more time. So, I hope it really is fixed now.

(Serious) Server Failure September 18, 2018.
It appears that my server locked up / stopped working at all and I'm currently unable to restore it to service. The screen stays black so I'm afraid it is a serious problem.

Update 2018-09-21: The server's motherboard died, and I managed to obtain a new computer and reinstall everything. I should be back online now.

Downtime for backup,  October 6, 2018
My server is currently writing a full disk image backup to external storage. During this time the machine is not able to respond to any external requests. The server should be back online in a few hours.

Firewall configuration error November 18, 2018 (and before)
My server had an error in the configuration of the ZoneAlarm firewall, allowing remote connections to some of the Unreal game servers to be blocked. The problem originated in the changes with the installation of the replacement server computer which required a newer ZoneAlarm version. This one lacked advanced open port controls. I changed the ZoneAlarm version yet again to a version that is both compatible with my network card and allows advanced configuration options for the open ports.
