Works ok on 225server  after running tho mapconverter,
my friend tried to play the maps but he was was unable to play with 226f and 3dfx , he kept getting  some sort of crash related to 'texture7' in many of the maps , He wouldnt send me a error log tho...

Some maps run ok some don't, but missing some texture files and support files in system folder.  Seems to be textures and credits.  Will be happy to offer this for download on newbies map page when I can gather all the files needed for the pack.

I'm definitely gonna try this out tonight

I recommend you to post this mappack on www.unrealsp.org as well, they happen to have quite a large audience for unreal singleplayer maps.

It's easy to make them run with all versions. Only 2 maps are affected.
If you want them be compatible with 225 do this:

map Storm.unr

under Properties of DynamicAmbientSound0 exchange the existing sound with this:

DynamicAmbientSound/Sounds/[3] - Sound'AmbOutside.OneShot.thund1'


map Tomb1.unr

under Properties of DynamicAmbientSound0 exchange the existing sound with this:

DynamicAmbientSound/Sounds/[1] - Sound'AmbOutside.OneShot.thund1'

After converting them to 225 with MC or a hexeditor for example they will run on any server.


I'm sorry, but this is ridiculous. Both,
'AmbOutside.OneShot.thund1' and 'UnrealShare.Rain.Thunder' are exactly the same sounds. The only difference is, that 'UnrealShare.Rain.Thunder' breaks the compatibility only for an already existing original Unreal sound. Can't see any logic in it.

Also there is an error in the Ued2.1 browser:
When I load the package AmbOutside.uax and want to use the sound:
'AmbOutside.OneShot.thunder' I always get 'UnrealShare.Rain.Thunder' instead. Even if I select AmbOutside as the current package.

The problem is the sound name, because it's identical.
You can find the same with a texture in Ued1. There are 2 different textures in 2 different packages, but their names are identical. You can only get one of them but never the other.

Hmm, this looks like the engine getting confused by resource names. "Thunder" is pretty generic, and UnrealShare is probably loaded earlier than AmbOutside. I encountered a similar issue when porting Wheel of Time maps, where two textures were in different packages, and were different, but had the same name, and the wrong one was getting loaded. It seems that UnrealEd doesn't track the package name of the resources, only the resource name itself...

me freind is a seroius oldskooler and uses some rather antique 3dfx card ( on older windows that cant run 227 btw) that runs unreal normaly great,
cracking on him for using glide is not the point here, he want to play  the maps but cant. you guys know a ton about compatibility more then i do , .is there something in the map that can be changed  to fix this?
pehaps a texture that uses  too high a bitrate ,  or dimension and cant be rendered?

to be fair to understanding , , there is also a monsterspawner running  on the map, if that is relevant.

ok i took a look and it seems to be caused be the  Skaarjw statue ,
witch  is a candle??? with the Skaarjw mesh applied and using a black texture.
while not sure why , i know that removeing this staue cause him to no longer crash.

Perhaps changing the texture would be enough. Using a "candle" or any other decoration actor and applying a different mesh is a way to get a static pose from a mesh that doesn't have a decoration by itself.

Featured on http://www.unrealsp.org in the latest news post. Also, a review was written and will be published later. When - I cannot say, it is out of my hands. Thanks for the pack -- despite its flaws it did have quite a sleeve of pleasant surprises.
