Overview

History:  Ballistic Blood, named after the mutator for UT2k4 that comes with Ballistic Weapons.  This started out by simply replacing textures, and then I just kept developing upon it more and more.  Ideas are based off of the original Ballistic Blood mutator, combined with my own ideas due to limitations in the editor.  Hey...sometimes limitations can be a good thing...

Description:  This is a mutator intended for supplying you gore junkies (like mwah) with the most sickening xtra gory effects ever imaginable!  Well...at least until the engine craps out and your FPS drops below 10...  This mutator is for 227 only, as it is based off of normal 227 blood.  I'm not really looking for realism here, as much as just some sick effects to satisfy my blood cravings.  I'll try not to over-exaggerate it TOO much though...

Progress

Features:

Key:  Green = Complete | Red = Incomplete

-Supports all weapons and pawns
-New blood splatter textures (Credit to the Ballistic Blood mod for UT2k4.)
-New blood puff, spray, and splash effects/textures.
-Blood sprays have trails.
-Pawns bleed dependent on where it is shot. (like gushing blood...not just a drip every now and then).
-Support for green blooded pawns.
-Support for blue blooded pawns. (maybe)
-Bloody explosion for carcasses when they are gibbed.
-Size of gibbed explosion dependent on size of carcass.
-Blood dissipates in air (For example, a blood spray or globule that would normally leave a big splatter, would eventually break up in the air, and instead leave a smaller blood splatter for each individual blood particle)
-Blood sprays relative to pawns velocity (e.g. You rocket a cow halfway across the map, the blood sprays and trails follow)
-Carcasses and gibs never disappear (as for decals, that is already an option in 227)
-Carcasses pre-added to levels will automatically have blood splatters around the carcass.
-Pawns get bloodier the more they get damaged. (another maybe here)
-Gib blood splat size depends on gib size.

Known Bugs & Issues:

-Gib splats don't work online. [Fixed] *Thank you UA!*
-Blood Pools don't spawn when carcasses never disappear. [Fixed]
-Original blood puff, spray, splash, and trail are not replaced correctly.  [Fixed]  *Woot Spawn Notify 277g \o/*
-BBBleedEmit doesn't die with the pawn it's attached to, and usually gets teleported to the center of the map for some reason.  [Fixed]
-Accessed nones spamming log.  [Fixed]  *Thank you Booda Flow!! =D*
-BBBleedEmit and BBGibTrailEmit particles suddenly vanishes when emitter died [Fixed] *Thanx Dots ^^*
-GPF when ridiculous amounts of blood and decals being spawned, and when reconnecting/switching maps sometimes.  EDIT:  Precaching seems to fix the level switch GPF.  Also I think these crashes may only happen on low end systems like my laptop right now.  Have yet to test on my main PC
-Low end machines will probably suffer a major performnace decrease...but I don't think this can be helped.



I'll probably be running a public test server with this mod once 227g is released.  I'll post it here when I do.

Update:  Just got the attach vertex code working tonight, so now pawns bleed where they are shot. ^^

I thought you had the green blood thing down? Ah well, I'll make the blue textures some time if you want.

Did you fix those annoying-as-hell warnings in BBSprayNew and such?

Yeah I think so...hopefully =P.  I had only started with the green blood, but I've yet to convert the textures over for it.  Also, the original Ballistic Blood already has blue blood textures Cheesy  It was used for the robots in UT2k4.  I'm not even sure if I really want to convert them over, or how I'd even implement them into custom pawns.

Thank you all for the comments ^^.  I'm going to be doing a gameplay vid soon, once I fix bleeding, and get the bloody carcass explosion working.

I think it'd be kinda humorous if the blood colors would use rainbow colors.

Also, may it be done for UT99, and, especially, Tactical Ops, based on UT99 engine?

I need to do a lot of cleaning up before release...i mean...I guess i could release it the way it is...but right now there's like a crapload of unused actors and textures, and it's completely over-sized atm.  Also, there's still a few bugs to nail (like shooting mercenaries crashing online games wtf)

As for UT99....no.  This uses a ton of emitter stuff, RBG actor scaling, and also Alphablend textures, which are not available in UT99.

GREEN BLOOD UPDATE



About time I got around to fixing/update this mod, yes I know.  But anyways!  Big update here that finally fixes the infamous green blood crashing bug with blowing up mercs bodies in 227i.  Green blood is now fully implemented and working for all green blooded pawns, new effects, and even some new textures.  Download and changelog below!

Added:

-Support for green blooded pawns

Installation:

You know the drill....u and .int into system folder and .utx into textures =P

How To Run:

You can either select the Ballistic Blood mutator in the mutator list or manually use this line:

Mutator=BallisticBlood.BBMut

If you wish for carcasses and gibs to never dissapear, use the BeGoneNot Mutator.

Mutator=BeGoneNot.BeGoneNot WARNING: This is not recommended to be used online.

The Blood decals never vanishing you can already do by going into advanced options and changing
DecalLifeSpan to 0. WARNING: This may cause your game to lag and/or crash after a while if an insane
amount of decals are spawned...this goes for any decals not just Ballistic Blood ones.

-Blood chunks dissipating in air to leave smaller blood splatters
-Pawns get bloodier the more they get damaged. (will be working on this soon)
-Gib blood splat size depends on gib size (maybe).

Known Bugs & Issues:

-Low end machines will probably suffer a major performance decrease...but I don't think this can be
helped.
-Green blood splats when spawned by a gib will flicker with a black box for 1 frame as it is spawned.  This is
due to the mutator setting the bloodsplat from Modulated to Translucent in order to work with the new
textures.  Will try to fix this in the future with a better method for replacing textures spawned by gib
bounces.
-Bots still spawn default Unreal blood for some reason
