How-to-do in UnrealEd 2.0 ??

Hi.

Im new a this board and hope I can get some help.

Me and a friend made a map for many years ago based on the factory we both were working at.

It was a lot of fun to duplicate the factory and we got it quite similar.

But we never got to exchange the faces on the bots with our own and our co-workers,and we didnīt got to exchange some of the sounds from the co-workers / machines.

Now I have picked up to make a new map based on my current job,so I would very much like a guide to exchange the face on the bots with my own face and ofcourse the co-workers/bossī face (so I can "kill" him Wink )

I am using Paint Shop Pro X2 v12.01 for textures and similar.

ALso a guide for converting sounds(.wav/.mp3) to the UT format.

Thx in advance...

Hello, and welcome to Old Unreal.

On the topic of the player skins. The easiest way to do it would be to open the editor and export an existing skin. In that way you would see how the "parts" of the skin are arranged.

You could then use the basic skin, and then just cut & paste the face onto it. Once that is done you'll have to save the skin as an 8 bit .pcx format. Import that into the editor. Make sure to give it a unique name. You'll also have to make a .int file for it using Notepad. The easiest way to figure this out is to look at an existing custom player skin. Here's a link to one I've made ...

OR
http://www.celticwarriors.net/Downloads/Skins/Male3Sniper.zip

I'm sure that there's a fuller tutorial about this topic, but I just can't recall where it is. Sorry about that.

A neat script to use would be the UnrealBotNPC. Using this in a custom map would let you add customized "enemy" bots into your map, and they'd also be on the player list too.

As for converting .mp3 music (etc) to a .uax OR .umx format, you'll have to make sure that the file you import into the editor is 8 bit .wav file and mono (just to keep its size small). I use a simple to use converter for such things ...

To make a "music" .umx file instead of a "sound" .uax file you'll need to use a tracker to set it up. Here's a link to a decent tracker, and a great tutorial on how to get it done ...

Another goodie to grab would be a "Reference" filled with tutorials and guides. There are several of them. Some of them just individual topics, and others just huge. Here's the one that I find has abit about everything ...

Others can be found here ...

Sorry about so brief in this response. I hope that I've help you out abit, at least.

Oops, I guess you meant UEd 2 for UT, not U1 v227. So the skin stuff might be just slightly different (as in their layout, etc), but the audio stuff should be the same.

The actual layout of the skin (what you see - ex. where the head and arms, etc) will be different for UT than U1. So looking at U1 based skins may not help, but otherwise the process of making them should be similar.

The making of audio and music IS the same.

The 'reference' I posted has stuff in it that works for UT and U1, even though it's U1 based. At least it's a start, eh.
