Guidelines for Usermaps

Print Post
Still getting maps that don't meet the requirements so here's a basic guideline for sending in maps.

Some general rules we have about how to prepare your map for publishing, what is acceptable and what's not.

All files MUST be zipped up using the winzip format. (thats .zip) No exceptions!!

Any custom files with your map MUST be included. For instance. Did you use custom textures and create your own texture package? Without them your map is useless to us - and will be deleted. To see a list of all the standard files check out the Information page.

Include a readme file with your map. A readme file tells us, and people who download your map all the information about you and your maps general details. It also should include all the necessary copyright information as well. for a pre-written readme file.

So we acknowledge your map has been send to us, go to the Usermap-Board and post a little about it. While there, if youre in the mood feel free to review someone else's map and tell them what you think of it. In doing so keep it professional. E-mail your maps to
usermaps@oldunreal.com

We look forward to seeing your work.

Meh i think you could have formatted this topic a little better. It can be very confuddling with all these colors and stuff...

More like the one on the actualy guidelines page...

As much as i try, i cannot seem to think of an interesting and amusing signature...I blame the stupid fools who stole all my ideas for decent signatures...&&&&Fools...&&&&I'll get you some day!

Actually, i was struck with the coloration in a positive way Smiley

It only needed a few empty lines in between the chapter parts. But apart from that i think it brightens up the post Smiley

No, no no, dear flap, what good is a critical eye when there is no tongue to match it! It's the lack of tongues in the world which makes for below-average results! If you see something which could (extremely easily) be improved, you should tell someone about it!

Lol i guess this ties in with my UM reviews too, i even had one person tell me i was too hard on their map even though i gave it 9/10. There was just one little point about the map which stopped it from getting 10, and he was like "Wow, you really dissed my map" or something like that. I forget now. It was a long time ago.

I would also like to include as a reviewer, if you create a DeathMatch map, please make it the default setting for the map:

>Level Properties>DefaultGameType>DeathMatch

This makes it easier for us to test the map in the mode it's supposed to be played in.  Smiley

Unless it's a coop map. In which case just leave it at default.
