i cant upload pictures into the textures for the UnrealEd. it asks what group i want it in and i specify it but then it wont show up when i look for it.

Your textures have to either be .BMP files 256 colors or lower, or .PCX files that have been indexed to 256 colors or under.

Also, make sure their image sizes are correct for UED. UED Supports (and more than just these) image sizes:

* 128x128
* 256x256

Those are the most common sizing because they're equal in height and width. Smiley

ok it was lower than 256x256 and a .PCX. it said at the top tht it was importing the texture but i still cant find it! what am i doing wrong?

The texture must be sized an even multiple of 8 pixels for its length and width if I recall correctly.

Thus:
8x8 is valid.
16x16 is valid.
32x32 is valid.
32x64 is valid.
32x128 is valid.
128x32 is valid.
64x64 is valid.
128x128 is valid.
256x256 is valid.
etc....

and

120x128 is not valid.
20x32 is not valid.
etc....

Basically, the simplest way of explaining each dimention is that it must be a 'power of two.'

Although, i am sure i heard at some point that textures could be up to 512 pixels...

But did you really have to use such a subject title? This is a UEd board where people may go for specific advice, if they see a topic named 'AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!' they will just end up confused...
  

As much as i try, i cannot seem to think of an interesting and amusing signature...I blame the stupid fools who stole all my ideas for decent signatures...&&&&Fools...&&&&I'll get you some day!

Unreal supports up to 4096 pixels x 4096 pixels Grin



If the texture sizes are correct, you need to make sure you used the correct save options for the PCX or BMP file themselves.

I recently gave them also on another post but here they are again:









Try them exact as they are above !

The images for textures need to be 256 colors paletized.
NOT Truecolor (or 24 bit color).

It must be 256 colors at (or) 8 bits dept

In some cases must be square (128*128 or 256*256)
I tried 256*128 and I can't import it!!!

Either you used a wrong setting in Photoshop while converting them to index colored, or theres something wrong with your editor.

If you use the settings in the examples above, the editor WILL import it !

Again i make note that above settings ONLY work for BMP files ! NOT PCX !

But it should easelly import something like 16 pixels x 512 pixels x 512 DPI or 256 pixels x 1024 x 1024 DPI.

It only covers the most used sizes, but mayby does give a bit insight. As said is not done yet.


But Loki try setting exact as stated above with a BMP file, it should import  256 x 128 x 256 DPI just fine....

It may also help if you try to import the unworking texture and copy what your log says about it, paste it here.
