Quick question....

I heard that the D3D9 renderer for 227f has a bug that doesn't allow AntiAliasing to work or something like that. Will the newer 227g patch include a fixed version of D3D9 that doesn't have the AntiAliasing bug?

Maybe it overrides graphics card preset, but you can set it in advanced options.
Also, I don't think that AA makes that much of a visual difference in Unreal, but if it wouldn't work I'm sure someone would have reported that already.

AA makes a very big difference to me in my opinion. This should prevent edges from being jagged, however, this option doesn't work in D3D9, even though it is selected in Advanced Options under the renderer settings.
AA works in OpenGL though, and I can see a huge difference between the two renderers. Unfortunately, OpenGL doesn't want to work on my OS. It's very choppy and has some strange clear horizontal lines flashing for some reason.....
I would love to post some pics showing the difference between the two, but I am currently not at my house. I will post some pics later if you guys want me to, just let me know.

sure thing

(as a side note- working or not working OpenGL is usually no question of the OS but of the graphics card driver which again could be responsible also for non working AA maybe)

yes, OpenGL not working with my OS is definitely the reason (I have Vista).
As for the graphics card driver, I think it is fine. It's the Nvidia card driver, and I just updated it a few days ago.

I had myself a couple of Vista systems with NVidia graphics card and OpenGL working flawlessly. Also it would be really strange if the previous "main" Windows version had no OpenGL support and nobody noticed...
The problem is definitely NOT OS related. Although Vista can be pretty bitchy its not that obscure that OpenGL wouldn't work on it

Perhaps it is the processor that I have? It's an Intel Centrino Mobile Processor. I heard that it's a piece of crap. Do you think that could be the reason why?

Got home.
system is
phenom II x4 955 @ 3.2ghz{no OC due to bad temps}
2x2gb DDR3 in dual channel 1600mhz effective
the legendary 8800GT from Pitbull{seriously, thank you dude}
AA doesn't work in d3d8/9 but works in OGL, forced or not, in game settings or not.. really weird.
Last I checked I have the latest drivers as of a month ago. Weird.

AA seems to do fine in D3D9 up to 8x. Not sure yet why. Some limit in D3D9? Some Nvidia limit or bug? Don't know yet.

I tried this out and you are indeed correct. In advanced options, I set "NumAASamples" to 8 and it worked just fine. Anything else beyond that doesn't work. That's really odd, though......

Antialiasing beyond 8x is only possible on OpenGL I think... And Quincux anti aliasing is only possible on NIVIDA hardware and only on OpenGL too.

okay, I have AA set on 2, and I have a problem:
Whenever I use AA, some strange lines appear at the very edges of the screen. For example, when I fire a DP at the side and move the blue explosion to the side of the screen, a blue line will stay on the side of the screen. It's kinda hard to explain.
Do you know why it does this?

I've seen that, but it never occurred to me to associate it with AA...
