thing is, it doesn't crash (until some point of course, unlimited is just not possible) for me and casey's new machine doesn't crash anymore too. There seem to be some dependency on hardware/drivers. At the moment I see no real chance to stabilize/improve this any further.

Yea, I got OccludeBSP crash on one of the servers as well. But it's quite rare a bug, so ah well.

I can reproduce it anytime within few seconds, if so it should be tested on a different hardware or you should fire with carifle etc more erratically.
Try test it on ati cards. I am using laptop AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor TK-57 1.90 GHz
With 32 bit operating system though and the card is the integrated ATI Radeon X1200.

Thing is, to debug such things I need both the full sources and a complete VC++ or Linux development environment. Also I only have one system with an ATI card (that is if we assume for now its related to ATI which wouldn't surprise me much tbh).
But then again this system is a Linux system which doesn't accept the ATI drivers so I'm forced to use the alternative Linux version. These are maybe not worse or even better than ATI's but may be reason enough again that it won't crash there.
I'm one person, no company. I don't get any money for this, if I was paid only 1$ for each hour I worked on this I'd be probably rich- but this way I can't afford a couple of test systems to test any possible setup , even if I'd love to do so.
Nevertheless I added an additional check on a place where I think it could be the cause. I hope its not to expensive (seen performance wise). Can check and tell me with g32 then.

posting at 2:30 am from a hotel on my cousin's laptop.. gotta love timezones.
Smirf, I still crashed in entry, but hcl3/deck16 etc are perfectly fine where before I'd crash in seconds.
Perhaps that will help if you also crash there.
