EXE format for the patch?

Hi Smirftsch,
would it be possible to offer the 227 patch as a plain packed (i.e. tar.gz, tar.bz2, 7z ) file for Linux?

There are two reasons for my question.

1.
I would like to write an article about Unreal and your patch at http://www.holarse-linuxgaming.de.
I did it some years ago already, but they messed up with it.

And I think it is hard to communicate to be forced to use wine for installing a native Linuxport.

2.
I would like to install Unreal on my system with a package manager to keep my system clean.
This means without user interaction, but with scripting.
The script would download the patch and extract it in a fakeroot to build the package.
And I guess this way would be prefered by lots of linux users.

And this way it would be easier to make your work more known.

Thank You

EAGLE

I think it's unnecessary, if you are installing in /opt, $HOME or /usr/local/
Note, Unreal227 doesn't use home directory to store user data and configs, unlike other linux games.

There is already an installer created for it somewhere.

IIRC it's impossible due to some legal issues. I may be wrong though.

It needs install/CD checks to be legal.
