Though I tried not to imply anything about melee weapons, it would be scarier using a melee weapon instead of a gun which you could use at a safe distance. With melee you gotta get right up in their space and risk getting slapped across the map or something.
But still, a melee weapon shouldn't be something you can just use to be all jedi with and annihilate the monsters. Something on the level of your fist in Doom without a berserk pack.
A Rusty Pipe that does 5-10 Damage but has Less Attack Speed.

I say we do add weapons to the game, but actually make the player look for them instead of giving it to them straight away. The fear of being killed will be complimented with a desperate search for some kind of protection. Hide the guns really well (what are the chances of finding a gun lying around in real life? Exactly.) and make the weapons blend in with the environment so the player has to use cleverness to figure out what is a weapon and what isn't. Slender brings out a milder kind of desperation by forcing the player to find pages that change locations with each playthrough. I remember walking into the tunnel and freaking out because Slenderman was hot on my tail and I couldn't find the page that was supposed to be there.

One of the easiest (and worst) things you can do to a mod is over-develop it. I'm guilty of that as probably most of you dev's are too. That's where this is going.
Once you give a player ANY weapon they will immediately go on the offensive. It's the nature of FPS gamers and you aren't going to change that. The real draw of Slender is the absolute powerlessness that you have as a player. You either run or die. Don't mess with that.

A Melee Weapon would do fine no Overpowered Weapons.

Keep playing the game! There's more to it than collecting notes. As soon as you see the slender man, you won't want to hang around.

lolz, just noticed that while playing Mirror's Edge, gotta dodge 'n run but once I get my hands on a shotgun... XD
But yeah, it's a whole different game when you take away any means of defense. Just like Amnesia.

i ones made a abadoned subway where a bunch of cliche paranormal stuff (stuff that moves out of nowhere, strange screams etc) happens and where the main goal is to move objects with grab to trigger events (like opening doors). the whole level is dark and you only have a flashlight. its far from finnished and it was merely a test (to see how scary you could make this game without scripting new actors).
