Unreal Movie.
Should they make a Movie of Unreal 1 if so would you want it to be Animated or Live Action? Also do you think its possible to put the whole game into One Movie or would it be a Trilogy?

Live action! I don't know how they should make it though maybe from vortex rikers up to chizra otherwise it'd be too long of a movie.

Re: Unreal Movie.
I think a Unreal movie would rock as long as it stays a faithful movie and captures what Unreal really is, it would need the feeling of 80s sci fi movies as Unreal feels just like one and should of course tell the (more or less) exact storyline as in the first game! Ideally, I would like the environments to look the same as in the game for more "whoa"-feeling, seeing as it could look like in real life and just hope that if it was a life action movie, they would not use crappy animations for lifeforms like the Skaarj or Nali. Heck, our animations might be good these days - but they still look "outstanding"/fake if put into a real environment or next to real people, the costumes from "oldschool movies" look much more realistic than the animations we have these days. That's probably why I might prefer a slightly surrealistic look, somewhat like this:

Environments that look like real life with a fotography style mixed with realistic-looking humans, still drawn though.
I would greatly appreciate some artistic freedom like in the books too, as long as it's not over the top, watching one person killing aliens all the time might turn out like a fragmovie without plot.
Unreal 1 should be separated from Return To Na Pali or it would be either way too long or "too butchered", as I think the translator messages would be a must in the game.
Anybody saw the DooM movie? There was an interesting scene entirely in first person. I asked myself why nobody made a movie based on a first person shooter from exactly this perspective, in my opinion in a Unreal movie it would be great to keep 849 anonymous to keep him or her a legend (I think if 849 was a man in the movie, the majority of Unreal players could identificate with him better - other than that if he was a woman in the movie, it would probably end that the breasts would be the "main feature" of the movie for some people
)
EDIT: Maybe up to Dark Arena as the grande finale if I think about it and after that a next episode?

Re: Unreal Movie.
Movie adoptions of game scripts were never a great thing, especially of shooters like Unreal. Anyone remembers the Doom movie? Final Fantasy?

Re: Unreal Movie.
I can't wait for a movie whose script is "featured actor moves from point A to point B, shooting things".

You must construct additional pylons.

Re: Unreal Movie.
Agreed with the last two posts. We already have the game, why would you want to have a film of the exact same thing?..

Re: Unreal Movie.
Something based on a similar story would be nice! A good writer and director could do some great things with an Unreal movie!
My two preferences for a movie would be:
1. A live action film with superb CG!! (eg on a decent budget)
2. For it to NOT be directed by Uwe Boll!!!

Re: Unreal Movie.
Ha, definitely agree with LPS' second point.
Other than that, as I mentioned in my first post, I think artistic freedom such as in the books is what you need to turn a "run from A to B and shoot things" plot into something bigger, Alien isn't really any different either if you come to think about it if you remove people.
So, why not add people to the plot? Movies with just one person, one protagonist can be successful (see Die Hard) but on the other side, the Unreal concept would flop this way, it could feel like an "endless" journey which bores the watchers to death.
Moreover, experimenting and adding more living people could allow for some "funny" eastereggs which the players would understand but which would add a lot of depth and maybe surprise the watcher who doesn't know the game.
Imagine the following scene: In the Vortex Rikers, 849 just wakes up from the crash after the introduction showing the spaceship crashing on the planet's surface, leaves the cell, explosions here and there, cables dropping, metal bending noises and earthquakes - suddenly another closer explosion. He looks to his side to see another person leave her cell in shock when all of the sudden the hallway above her breaks and crushes her just in the moment he started to talk to her to ask her what happened.
(Those who never triggered this event on purpose when playing coop to kill your friend shall throw the first stone!
)
Let's take this a bit further and make 849 actually form a group of survivours with him as the leader inside the ship. There you got the interactions, tell some stories about the other people (excluding 849, this can be solved the easy way by interrupting him everytime he starts talking with a Skaarj, Brute, Manta or Krall attack or some other sudden event), the stories could show how the "normal life" in the Unreal Universe looks like, how the judgement system works like and if it is corrupt, what the others did to be sent to the prison moon and slowly decimate the people until the "Kira part" of the plot starts to add more focus on that or keep some alive and give Kira some important role, maybe 849 searched for some spaceships on board of the Kran but he didn't find any because certain doors had a safety lock? That's why she might be an interesting plot part.
You see, the key to make it more interesting is some artistic freedom.
And I would say the action should settled in the story of Unreal 1. Why? Because I think Na Pali's environments can be updated/turned into a beautiful scenery, see LPS' remake. They could still expand it with stuff like a Krall rebellion or something like that to give it more depth and let the movie series end with a cliffhanger indicating that there will be the Human-Skaarj-War.
However, as we all know the movie industry, I think we all know that they would just create an epic fail, either something that doesn't resemble Unreal at all except for the name (2nd point of LPS' post) or they would keep it too direct and mess it up by making it a boring experience.
And to keep it realistic, I doubt Epic would give anybody the right to make such a movie, no matter how good the person is at doing that, they would probably do a Gears Of War movie, but Unreal has a down at the moment.

Re: Unreal Movie.
I totally agree with sly. Unlike adaptations of books, game-based films are usually good, when the complement the game, instead of reproducing its content. In case of UnreaL however this is inescapable.
Adding to sly.'s thoughts, there's also the idea of reproducing the inside events in a slightly different manner, that has also been meant slightly in the game (from the gamer's point of view, not the developer's necessarily): The idea is meeting log's of dead people, describing theirs own struggles to survive or achieve. In the film, 849 could instead catch up with them and be involved in the action being the only one to survive. He's there when the Brute force attacks the settled camp, he finds alive prisoners in Dark Arena, he's present in the final stand on ISVDECK1, and so many others. And maybe Kira is found alive instead, etc. This takes a lot of the shooting off the main character giving more plot food in the film.
I had been imagining a film for the game, ever since I started playing it, I'm sure everybody has. I really wish to see it happen, but honestly I am always wary of the result. For example, ever since I have been reading Burroughs' books of Barsoom, I have been imagining a film too. This year Disney comes up with a film, which by all standards is below average. (maybe I expect too much but so do we for an UnreaL film, are we not?)
