There are always haters of certain franchises. Not everybody has the same positive reaction as jefequeso on this game. And nobody has a really "neutral" attitude towards the game before trying it out. ;)

Oh, I forgot! One person mentioned that they'd like to hear my opinions on UT... I did write a small article that covers UT99 and UT2004 (as well as Counterstrike and Quake III).

tl;dr - Thought UT 2004 was awesome, but it didn't click with me for some reason. Enjoyed UT99 a lot more.

UT99 simply has a very strong personality. UT2004 is also very qualified in this sense, but a bit less.

UT2004 is one of the most important game to have as someone who likes Video Games because of the loads and loads and loads and loads and loads and loads and loads of content that is has from the get-go, the numerous bonus packs, the hundreds of mods of every kind. UT2004 can hardly be compared to anything else (except maybe Half-Life 1).

I tried to comment on some of your posts with a wordpress identity, but it doesn't look like it worked. You are using the system that requires an account on a couple of websites to post comments : it sucks to have to log in on some social networks to comment. Especially when you don't have accounts there.
You must construct additional pylons.

From what I saw, it supports Google accounts and OpenID, which give you quite a broad range of choice there. Though I haven't checked if they work as intended.

yes, that is not good.  There might be a setting I can changed to allow anyone to comment.  I'll have to check.

But yeah... that was one of the things that really impressed me about UT 2004.  It was MASSIVE.  Almost like it had 3 or 4 TC mods installed out-of-the-box.  But that's also one of the things that kinda put me off.  It felt somewhat unfocused.

I certainly don't think it's a bad game, though. And in the future, I will certainly be giving it another try.

EDIT: ok, now anyone is allowed to comment on the blog. Just had to change a simple radio button :3

ya i got the same thing when trying to comment. Loved the review to be honest. His perspective view + his word of choice was such a good read. Wish it was a little longer. Also like someone else mentioned earlier in this post, some awesome stuff such as 227patch being fan made and some mods being quite active still in multiplayer would be a good thing to add. But all in all, it was a good read.
